I'm a big fan of the best ereaders, and one of my favorites is the Kindle Colorsoft, which is now on sale at Amazon for $169.99 (was $249.99). That's a huge $80 saving and a return to a record-low price for the popular color ereader.

We don't see many price cuts on the Kindle Colorsoft. In fact, the last time we brought you a deal at this low price was Black Friday. And with the Amazon spring sale set to kick off later this week, this early discount is well worth a look if you want to maximize savings on an ereader.

With a seven-inch color display, great battery life, waterproofing, and an adjustable backlight, we described the Kindle Colorsoft as “the Kindle of your dreams in color.”

Today’s best Kindle deal

Get all the benefits of Kindle technology, but now in color, for a record-low price. We're big fans of the seven-inch Colorsoft display, which looks fantastic, boasts high contrast, and is easy on your eyes. Additional features include paper-like visuals, the ability to highlight text in different colours, and the ability to adjust the display to read in bright sunlight or in the dark.

Our reviewer gave the Kindle Colorsoft an impressive four and a half stars out of five. That's as close to perfection as you can get without being awarded the full five stars. He loved its “speedy refresh and zooming” capabilities and described it as changing “the way we see Kindle forever”.

If you read a lot of comics and graphic novels, or if you like the idea of highlighting text in various colors, then the Kindle Colorsoft will be right up your street. It provides better performance compared to previous models with smooth zooming and “fast performance on E Ink", which makes it one of the best Kindles around.

This is one of the best Kindle deals around at the moment, but we appreciate it won't be for everyone. If you'd like a more versatile tablet that also lets you browse social media and play games, then our dedicated iPad deals page is worth a look.
