It’s not officially Black Friday yet, but some fantastic Black Friday deals are already available if you're looking for a new ereader. For starters, the ever-popular Amazon Kindle is now down to £69.99 (was £94.99). That’s a new low price for Black Friday, and one of the few times we've seen it discounted over the last 12 months.

The latest Amazon Kindle is the best yet: the lightest and most compact version of the ereader so far. It has a brighter front light at max setting, along with a higher contrast ratio and faster page turns. It’s the ideal way to carry hundreds of books with you, thanks to its 16GB storage and 6 weeks of battery life. You can also pay £10 extra to get the version without lockscreen ads.

Amazon has also launched a decent, if a little disappointing, deal on the latest Kindle Paperwhite for Black Friday. We found in our Kindle Paperwhite review that it's packed with features to suit all avid readers, including a 12-week battery life, glare-free 7-inch screen, adjustable warm light, and storage space for thousands of books. This is a good buy and one of the best ereaders out there; it's just a shame that the days of even bigger discounts are well in the past.

In our Amazon Kindle review, we gave it four stars, citing some concerns that it isn’t a true upgrade over the previous model. However, if you haven’t owned a Kindle before (or for a while), you’ll appreciate its “brighter screen light” and “better performance with minimal ghosting.” It remains the best Kindle for anyone on a budget, with its Matcha green colorway being particularly attractive.

The best ereader market is an increasingly varied one, but for many people, the simplicity of the Kindle ecosystem makes it an easy choice to make. While the best tablets also allow you to use the Kindle app, by using a dedicated Kindle, you won’t have to worry about being distracted by notifications.

It’s also small enough to toss into your bag, so, at any moment throughout the day, you can sneak in a few pages. I’ve found that owning a Kindle has led me to read a lot more in recent years.

For anyone considering spending a little more, there are other Kindle deals available. If you need more functionality, there are numerous tablet deals too if you want something more powerful or feature-rich.
