Being able to snap up deals on audio's biggest names for unknown-brand money doesn't happen every day – but that's just one of the reasons Labor Day is very, very special.

And this year is a good one if you like Sony headphones, because right now you can buy the Sony WH-CH520 at Amazon for $38 (was $59.99).

This is a return to the lowest price these cans have ever been – inching back under the $40 mark! Their build quality and solid audio chops go some way to explaining why these headphones are sitting pretty in the second spot on our best cheap headphones buying guide, as well as featuring in our best Sony headphones roundup.

These portable beauties punch well above their weight even at the MSRP of $60, offering certain features that you only usually get with Sony's much pricier WH-1000XM models.

This is emphatically one of the better headphone deals around for Labor Day, but if it's not quite the deal for you, our Labor Day sales hub is the place to go for tastiest savings we've seen across all of the big retailers.

Our Sony WH-CH520 review, is the place to go for the full scoop, but know this: we called them “some of the best cheap headphones you can buy” at $60 – and right now they're 37% cheaper than that. They also provide “very well-balanced sound” and great audio customization.

Any flies in the ointment? The on-ear design may not be for everyone, and it means that the noise isolation could be better, but it's hard to fault them at this super-low price. Look for pricier Sony headphones like the CH720 if you need ANC, but for most people, these will sort you out just fine, and for little money.

You don't need me to tell you that Sony is a huge name in the best wireless headphones world, and the WH-CH520 are every last millimeter a Sony product, just now with a decidedly un-Sony-like saving!
