The second annual Amazon Prime Day has officially started, although the retailer has decided to call it the 'Prime Big Deal Days' sale. Despite the unpronounceable name, the sale offers some incredible Kindle deals today.

In fact, today's Prime Day Kindle deals offer record-low prices across the board. Regardless of whether you're looking for a cheap model, or something a little higher-end, it's a great time to consider picking up one of the brand's ereaders.

Particularly noteworthy highlights include the brand new Kindle Colorsoft for $199 (was $249) / £169 (was £239), the high-end Scribe on sale for $299 (was $399) / £269 (was £379), and Kindle Kids models starting at just $94 (was $129) / £84 (was £114). I've rounded up today's record-low prices in both the US and UK just below.

As with previous Prime Day events, you'll need to be a Prime member to access some of these prices. Not all of today's Prime Day Kindle deals are exclusive, but a few of the discounts on bundles in particular are. If you're not already a member, then you can sign up for a free 30-day trial at no cost. That will cover you for all the other various Prime Day deals that are also available on TVs, devices, appliances, and much more.

Amazon Paperwhite 16GB
Amazon Paperwhite 16GB: was $159.99 now $124.99 at Amazon

Today's discount on the Amazon Paperwhite beats the previous record-low by $5, which doesn't sound like much, but in terms of Kindle deals - that's newsworthy. The Paperwhite is the mid-range model, with a slightly larger display, longer battery life, and waterproofing. It's that last feature that's the major selling point, in my opinion, since it makes the Paperwhite perfect for vacations or the like.
