Prime Video is stacked with new movies in October 2025. With over 120 new arrivals set to land this month, I've picked out five with over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics worth watching – and there's something for everyone here.

This month's standout picks include two classic romantic comedies, one with Hugh Grant and the other with the icon Cher herself. There's also the sci-fi thriller Companion, which came out just this year and is already finding a home on one of the best streaming services.

You can also catch a surrealist drama from Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman, in addition to one of the best sci-fi action movies from the '80s with a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score. See the movies below, along with the full list of new films arriving on Prime Video in October.

Director: Drew Hancock

Earlier this year, Drew Hancock's directorial debut made a lasting impression on movie lovers with his sci-fi thriller Companion, which was produced by Barbarian's (2022) Zach Cregger. It's one of the highest rated movies of the year, and it's finally finding a home on a streaming platform.

Young lovers Iris and Josh meet at a supermarket, and it's love at first sight. Now they're an item, the two are invited to spend the weekend at Josh's friend's luxury secluded lake house. Though Iris thinks that Josh's friends dislike her, her anxieties disappear and she ends up having a great night – until the group discover a dead body.

What was a night of fun and games is now a different story, and the group are left fighting for survival - but Iris makes a shocking discovery about herself that changes everything.

Being John Malkovich (1999)

RT score: 94%
Age rating: R
Runtime: 113 minutes
Director: Spike Jonze
Arriving on: October 1

Charlie Kaufman is a master of surrealist fantasy as seen with his scripts for Adaptation (2002) and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) – and the same goes for Being John Malkovich, which is one of the new Prime Video movies I can't wait to tick off my list.

Struggling puppeteer and street entertainer Craig Schwartz (John Cusack) takes a job in a low-ceiling office in Manhattan to support his marriage to pet store clerk Lotte (Cameron Diaz). Things change when he discovers a hidden tunnel on the 7½ floor in his office, which leads people directly into the mind of actor John Malkovich for 15 minutes, spitting them out next to the New Jersey Turnpike.

Along with his wife and co-worker Maxine (Catherine Keener), the three see a business opportunity and start selling the experience for $200, but results in a complex triangle leading certain characters to question their identity.

Moonstruck was one of my favorite movies I streamed in February, and after months of it being absent from Prime Video it's finally coming back. If you haven't watched Moonstruck yet, take my word for it, it's one of the best romantic comedies out there – and not just because of Cher.

Set in New York, Italian-American widow Loretta Castorini (Cher) is convinced that she's been hexed with a marriage curse. She decides to remarry and accepts a proposal from her boyfriend Johnny – but she's not really in love with him.

When Johnny sends her to convince his estranged brother Ronny (Nicholas Cage) to attend the wedding, the two unexpectedly fall in love under the influence of a full moon. Faced with a tough decision to make, her life becomes even more complex when she uncovers other cases of infidelity within her own family.

The Terminator (1984)

Age rating: R
Runtime: 107 minutes
Director: James Cameron
Arriving on: October 1

With a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, The Terminator is considered one of the best sci-fi movies ever – there's a reason why it sparked a huge blockbuster franchise consisting of six movies.

In a dystopian 2029, computer system Skynet finds itself loses the war against the humans that created it. Before it's exterminated, Skynet sends a powerful cyborg assassin known as the Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) back to 1984 for an important mission; to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton).

At the same time, human solider from the future Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) is sent back to protect and save Sarah. Unbeknown to her, her unborn son will grow up to lead the humans in the war against Skynet, and is their only hope for victory.

Director: Mike Newell
Arriving on: October 1

Another one of the best romantic comedy movies ever is Mike Newell's Four Weddings and a Funeral, which exudes stereotypical Britishness that you can't help but love. It was one of my favorite movies I streamed in June, and I think it's time to revisit it in October.

Hugh Grant stars as Charles, a English bachelor who always seems to be at weddings, but is never the groom. When Charles serves as best man in the wedding of friends Angus (Timothy Walker) and Laura (Sara Crowe), he meets American woman Carrie (Andie MacDowell) and instantly falls in love. But despite their one very memorable evening together, that's all it turns out to be.

Over the movie, we see Charles and Carrie run into each other over different social events and his awkward, failing attempts to win her back while all his friends find love in the meantime.
