I'm a running watch expert — this is the best value Garmin watch around right now, and I've personally used it to run the London Marathon

Garmin makes some great watches perfect for big running events like marathons, but one thing it's tough to get around is the high price. Even in discount events such as the Amazon Spring Sale, the newer models don't receive quite the discounts that we'd like. But, what if I told you that there's an older model out there with a better-than-half-price discount and holds its own against all the newer watches?

Step forward the Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2). With an Elevate V5 sensor (the same one on the Garmin Fenix 8) for accurate heart rate monitoring, hill and endurance scores, excellent GPS navigation features thanks to SatIQ technology, and an 11-day battery life, it's a comprehensive powerhouse.

Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) 47mm Sapphire edition
Save 46%
Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) 47mm Sapphire edition: was $999.99 now $544.97 at Amazon

Save a massive $455 in this deal on the 47mm Garmin Epix Pro with toughened Sapphire Glass. It might be a few years old, but it's packing a current-gen Elevate V5 heart rate sensor, multi-band GPS, and an LED torch. It's the blueprint for a modern Garmin watch: fast, accurate, and built like a tank. It's water-resistant to 100 meters, too.

Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) 51mm Sapphire edition
Save 51%
Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) 51mm Sapphire edition: was $999.99 now $489 at Amazon

A better-than-half-price deal on the larger 51mm model. This version ups the battery life even further, while TopoActive maps and ski routes look great on the large 1.4-inch screen.

While it's a great watch for skiers and orienteers, it really is a spectacular running watch. I love this thing: I used the 47mm version to run the London Marathon in 2024, comparing its statistics to the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and finding no statistically significant differences across the 26.2 mile route.

Having been totally subsumed by the introduction of AMOLED to the Garmin Fenix line, the Epix series won't be around for much longer, which is why it's at such a significant discount. Get it while you can!
