When it comes to the best cheap phones, Samsung's A-series of phones, led by the Galaxy A56, is as good as it gets. However, its budget offering doesn't stop there. Like the Google Pixel 9a, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE sits somewhere between budget and flagship – offering customers the ability to snag a premium-feeling handset at a more affordable price.

While it doesn't quite match the power or display boasted by the flagship Samsung Galaxy S25, the S24 FE offers the Galaxy S24 some handy competition. It supports Galaxy AI and provides a similar experience to the S24 while sporting a larger 6.7-inch screen. However, it has a weaker camera and a less durable display. While its base price is much more expensive, we've found the standard S24 for less than AU$700 since the release of the newer model.

While it doesn't quite match the power or display boasted by the flagship Samsung Galaxy S25, the S24 FE offers the Galaxy S24 some handy competition.

The S24 FE has seen some hefty discounts, though, too. During Amazon Prime Day it was just AU$726. At that price, buying it outright and pairing it with one of our best SIM-only plans is an extremely enticing prospect.

However, it still costs AU$1,099 at full price. That's why grabbing the best offering from Vodafone, Optus or Telstra and paying it off over a long-term contract is a great option. We've done all the hard work for you – all you have to do is scroll further down to find the two best Galaxy S24 FE plans available.

Best Samsung Galaxy S24 FE plans: our picks

Best overall plan

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (128GB) | 60GB data | 24 months | AU$77.95 p/m

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (128GB) | 60GB data | 24 months | AU$77.95 p/m

Despite dropping its long-running 'double-data and AU$10 discount' deal, Vodafone is still the top telco when it comes to the Galaxy S24 FE – beating out the most affordable plan from Optus by more than AU$20 p/m. This plan also offers 60GB compared to Optus' 50GB of monthly data, unlimited international texts and unlimited national calls and texts. Note, Vodafone is offering existing customers a deal that nets them "60GB for $26.50 p/m for the first 3 months".

Total cost over 24 months is AU$1,870.80

Best premium plan

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (128GB) | 200GB data | 24 months | AU$87.95 p/m

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (128GB) | 200GB data | 24 months | AU$87.95 p/m

Despite costing AU$63 p/m as opposed to the AU$49 p/m you were getting on the first 12 months thanks to Vodafone's previous 'double-data and discount' deal, this current offering only totals to AU$16 more over 24 months. This medium plan provides a healthy 200GB of monthly data and all the benefits of the small plan above. However, what will make it most attractive for some users is its inclusion of unlimited internationals calls.

Total cost over 24 months is AU$2,110.80

The Samsung FE line of phones – and tablets – sit in a strange mid-spot that makes them neither a budget phone, nor a Flagship device. That in and of itself isn't the weird part. Apple's upcoming iPhone SE 4 will fill a similar hole, as does Google's Pixel A series.

It's worthy of note when it comes to Samsung because, unlike the other two, Samsung offers true budget devices to go with its Flagship Galaxy S phones – starting with the impressive Samsung Galaxy A56, all the down to the dirt-cheap Galaxy A05s.

We're not complaining, though. More options is only a good thing for customers, and for those looking for a seriously good phone around the AU$1,000 mark, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is a fantastic option.

In our Samsung Galaxy S24 FE review, we called it a "a great phone in its own right", not just a cheaper S24 – with small sacrifices to its power and camera quality that are well worth the savings.

You get plenty of flagship functions too, like a full suite of Galaxy AI features – getting the best features sported by the best Samsung phones – a beautiful display and incredible battery life. In fact, the S24 FE's display is a significant 0.6 inches larger than the Galaxy S24.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE hits the right notes in all the important areas. It's got a sleek, iPhone-like design with a beautiful, low-key trio of colours options. And, while the display might not be the sharpest in the tools shed, the colours and details still pop on its peak 1900 nit brightness display.

It still performs fantastically, too – even if it doesn't quite match the processing power of the Samsung Galaxy S24. Power-hungry activities like video calls and AI features. are a breeze, and the combination of a lower-power processor and higher battery capacity means the Galaxy S24 FE lives longer than the standard Galaxy S24. At a starting price of AU$1,099, it's a very, very impressive smartphone.
