You’ll lose some key features by opting for the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active over the Samsung Galaxy Watch, but that doesn’t mean the former is a bad device.

In fact, Samsung has done it again here, as the company has managed to make a premium-feel device that is in a smaller package but doesn’t lose all of the key features people expect from a smartwatch.

It's a clear indication that Samsung wants to differentiate its premium smartwatch lineup from these, and this is a pretty classy execution of an offering that doesn't seem to skimp out on a lot.

Should you buy it?

Smartwatches are a tricky phase. The Android camp has failed to attract those who aren't geeks or early-adopters, and Wear OS has left a bitter taste in the mouths of many (including me). In times like these, Samsung was able to bring a smartwatch that has better performance, reliable battery life, a comparable app ecosystem along with a subjectively decent design for a price much lower than what traditional OEMs, the Fossil group or even Apple.

Joining those dots makes it evident that Samsung has been able to create a smartwatch that should appeal a lot more people, and hopefully help them get a little more mainstream.
