As someone who eats, sleeps, and breathes all things audio streaming, I'd be nowhere without the help of the best smart speakers. But while I love my trusted Echo Pop, I'm overdue an upgrade – and the Presidents' Day sales are a great excuse to do so.
Though it's still a week away, retailers are already getting the ball rolling with early Presidents' Day deals on some of our favorite smart speaker models out there. Amazon's flagship Alexa+ speaker, the Echo Dot Max, has dropped back down to its lowest price ($79.99, was $99.99), which is just as good as its Black Friday listing.
Or, if you're someone who wants to make the switch from an Echo device, I'd recommend having a look at Best Buy's President's Day sale for the Sonos Era 100 ($179, was $219), which will take your smart home setup to a different level.
If you're in the same boat as me and want more out of your smart home speaker, whether that's for better audio quality or a more responsive voice assistant, you've come to the right place.
Record low price: As well as unveiling its first major upgrade for Alexa, Amazon launched the Echo Dot Max smart speaker, which we've deemed as one of the best devices in Amazon's lineup. Now at its lowest price, this model ticks all the boxes if you're after a smart speaker that delivers room-filling audio with its Lossless High Definition and Automatic Room Adaptation abilities. Though $80 is still a lot for some, it sits on the more affordable end compared to rival models.
If you've got a little more to splurge this Presidents' Day, the Sonos Era 100 is our best premium option, which you can score for a $40 discount at Best Buy. Compared to the Echo range, the Sonos Era 100 really packs a punch on the audio front, filling rooms of all sizes. As for connectivity, you can use AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth when you pair the speaker through the Sonos app. It also supports Alexa voice assistant, so it's not too much to get used to if you're switching over from an Echo device.
If you're only just getting into smart speakers, the Google Nest Audio is a simple bedroom or kitchen speaker that gets the job done. It's easy to set up and serves as a reliable smart home assistant thanks to its solid microphones and voice output. So, if you're not worried about having the most advanced model, the Nest Audio is reliable if you want a good surface-level speaker. That said, Google is tipped to unveil its new 'Google Home Speaker' in the Spring, so that might tempt you to hold off a little longer.
