As someone who both reviews fitness kit and runs long distances for fun, I've spent a lot of time testing running headphones, and it's hard to find many that are better than Shokz. I tend to alternate between the Shokz OpenFit 2+ open-ear headphones and the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 bone conduction headphones, preferring the OpenRun Pro 2 for race-day events. Yes, that's my ear in the picture above.

The chief difference between the OpenRun and OpenSwim series is in waterproofing and music storage. Bluetooth doesn't conduct well underwater, so the OpenSwim Pro headphones offer a 32GB MP3 player inside the unit. They also work perfectly well on land as well as water.

Many organised races actually don't allow runners to wear in-ear headphones anymore, so participants either have to get on the open-ear headphone wagon or raw-dog it for the duration.
