There are powerful gaming laptops aplenty on offer in 2024, but finding one that offers good value isn't all that easy, particularly if you're keen on one powered by one of Nvidia's latest RTX 40-series GPUs. Aiming for the top shelf is not usually cheap... unless you wait for a big sale to come calling, like HP NZ's Easter sale.

The Easter long weekend might have come and gone, but HP is still celebrating by slashing prices on a wide range of gaming laptops. Our pick of the bunch is this 25% off the 2023 HP Omen 16 model powered by an RTX 4070 GPU.

That's not the only powerful component that makes this one heck of a value buy – it gets some decent grunt thanks to the AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS processor. That's an absolutely solid pairing that can handle some serious heavy gameplay.

Not only does this 16-inch gaming beast have a powerful CPU and GPU, it's got plenty of system memory to keep thing ticking along nicely, plus a lot of storage for all those space-hogging games. While we can't call it 'cheap', it's solid value at 25% off, saving you decent chunk of change.

HP New Zealand is a TechRadar preferred partner (What does this mean?)

The HP Omen 16 is one of the most powerful gaming laptops in the market right now – while we haven't reviewed it ourselves here at TechRadar, our colleagues over at Laptop Mag call this AMD configuration a "solid gaming laptop". They praise its performance – including its battery life – and its low-key, sleek design is also something of note.

Thanks to its powerful internals, this Omen laptop is typically a premium gaming machine, so you really shouldn't let this discount pass you by. It's a good bargain considering you're getting a Nvidia RTX 4070 GPU paired with a CPU that's got some real oomph to it. This kind of performance at 25% off is not to be missed.

Understandably, 16 inches does make the laptop a little less portable, but if you're looking for a desktop replacement or a device for your WFH setup, the HP Omen moves seamlessly between graphically impressive gaming sessions to running intense statistical software or demanding design programs.

Other standout HP gaming deals

If the HP Omen is a little beyond your budget, there are a couple of other gaming laptops you can consider, but they do sacrifice a little performance. You still get a good GPU in the RTX 3050 in both options listed below.

There's heaps more deals across a huge range of laptops, 2-in-1s, monitors and more in HP NZ's Easter sale.
