Intel gets serious about flash memory

Intel's going big on flash memory, funding a new company to help develop the solid-state storage

Intel has partnered with STMicroelectronics to create an independent organisation with one aim: get to the top of the pile in flash memory.

Intel has made no secret of its desire to grow share in the flash memory space. Flash is an area that has seen revenues skyrocket as sales of solid state music players and flash USB devices have gone through the roof.
