Look out, the first teaser for Supergirl has arrived – and the DCU movie's actual trailer isn't far behind
The trailer for the DC Universe's next big-screen project will arrive very soon
- Supergirl's first albeit brief teaser has been released
- The 10-second clip gives us a fresh look at Milly Alcock's titular character
- DCU co-chief James Gunn has also confirmed when its official trailer will drop
Look out, Supergirl fans, because the forthcoming film's first official footage has arrived.
Released yesterday (December 7) on the movie's newly-launched social media platform, the 10-second teaser is just that: a teaser. Nonetheless, it gives us a fresh look at Milly Alcock's titular hero, who looks pretty chill if not a little worse for wear – those giant, hangover-hiding sunglasses are something of a giveaway – as a spaceship lands nearby.

With Supergirl due to fly into theaters on June 26, 2026, it's high time that DC Studios released an actual trailer. Indeed, the first trailer for this year's Superman movie dropped around this time last year and the DC Universe's (DCU) first film didn't launch worldwide until mid-July.
In late November, it was suggested that Supergirl's first trailer would receive its premiere at Brazil Comic-Con (CCXP) 2025. However, save for a live experience booth at said event, which ran December 4-7, CCXP 2025 came and went without as much of a sniff of a teaser.

However, per Fandango and Rotten Tomatoes reporter Erik Davis, the trailer was shown at a behind-closed-doors event in New York City on December 7, which is why it wasn't shown for the first time at CCXP 2025. Now that select members of the press have seen it, we can look forward to the Alcock-starring comic book movie's first trailer being publicly unveiled very, very soon.
When will the first trailer for Supergirl come out?
We don't know for sure. The caption accompanying the above X/Twitter post simply indicated that it'll be released "this week" – a tentative launch window that DCU co-chief James Gunn echoed on his personal Threads account.
There's one rumored release date that's circulating online, though. According to World of Reel, Supergirl's inaugural trailer is due to take flight on Thursday, December 11. Industry insider DanielRPK, who has a pretty reliable track record when it comes to trailer release dates, has implied that the DCU Chapter One flick's main teaser will make its bow then, too.

It's possible that the trailer for one of 2026's most exciting new movies might not be released on that date, though. Indeed, there's speculation that the first trailer for Avengers: Doomsday will also arrive on December 11.
The highly-anticipated Marvel movie's own teaser was another that was rumored to receive its worldwide premiere at CCXP 2025 but, perhaps unsurprisingly, it was also a no-show at the event. If – and it's a big if – the Marvel Phase 6 film's own trailer is due to arrive on December 11, that would put DC Studios in a bind if it similarly planned to release Supergirl's first proper teaser on the same date. That "teaser trailer this week" caption seems like DC's way of giving themselves room to pivot if Doomsday's first teaser is confirmed to launch on Thursday, then.
Regardless, I'll be covering both trailers whenever they're released. In the meantime, find out what we know so far about Supergirl, find out who's involved in that movie via my Supergirl cast and character guide, and read about everything we know so far about Avengers: Doomsday.
