- Ted Lasso season 4's release month might have been revealed by accident
- One of its stars has stated it'll come out in August
- Publicly, Apple has only confirmed its hit TV Original will return sometime in mid-2026
Get ready to lace up your soccer boots this August, Ted Lasso fans, because that's when season 4 is going to make its Apple TV debut.
Well, according to Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton in the hugely successful show. Indeed, speaking to Deadline, Waddingham appeared to let slip that its next chapter will take to the field sometime in August. And, given that Waddingham quickly tries to backtrack, it seems there's more than an ounce of truth about its potential launch month.
Hannah Waddingham says ‘Ted Lasso’ season 4 is “a whole different deal,” and talks the possibility of returning for a fifth season #BAFTAs pic.twitter.com/RcMxqCzinlFebruary 23, 2026
"It’s a whole different deal, with our Lady Greyhounds," Waddingham said of Ted Lasso season 4's focus on AFC Richmond's women's soccer team. "I can’t wait for everyone to see what they’ve come up with.
"[It's coming out] August, I think," Waddingham then added of its possible release month. Realizing she's made a faux-pas, Waddingham immediately turns to her PR rep and asks: "Am I allowed to say August?" before turning back to the reporter and bashfully adding: "What if I’m wrong? I think it's August."
Why an August 2026 launch would be the perfect time to release Ted Lasso season 4
This isn't the first we've heard of the sports comedy-drama's return on one of the world's best streaming services. In January, Apple confirmed Ted Lasso 4 would drop sometime in mid-2026. An August launch, then, would certainly fall within the parameters of that release window.
Nonetheless, an August release would be the perfect time to drop the multi-award-winning show's next installment.
In the article linked above, I suggested that an August or September 2026 launch would tie into the start of the 2026/27 English Premier League (EPL) season, which will kick off in mid-August. Meanwhile, the 2027 English Women's Super League should begin sometime in September. Considering Ted Lasso 4 will see the titular soccer coach return to UK shores to manage AFC Richmond's women's team, releasing it in September might be even more fitting than if it debuts alongside the beginning of next season's EPL season.

Regardless, thanks to Waddingham's comments, I now consider myself to be something of a clairvoyant. Well, for movie and TV show release windows, so don't ask me to predict this week's lottery numbers.
