There's big news for Brits with Amazon Echo devices: Alexa+ has finally made its way to the UK. If you're unfamiliar, Alexa+ is the next generation of Amazon's Alexa voice assistant. It's powered by generative AI, and should offer more natural conversations and improved control over smart home devices. It's been available stateside since March 2025, but has only just made its way across the pond.

This isn't exactly the same Alexa+ that can be found in the US, though: it's been localised for British life, and is connected to services used in the UK, as well as British news sources including the BBC and the Guardian. Oh, and it should be able to understand regional accents a little better too. Want to get access to this upgraded assistant now? Here's what you need to know...

How do I get access to Alexa+ in the UK?

The upgraded assistant will cost £19.99 a month on its own, but it's also included for free with Amazon Prime. We were told that Alexa+ UK would initially only be rolled out to the Echo Dot Max, Echo Studio, Echo Show 11 and Echo Show 8. However, a quick browse of the Amazon UK site indicates it should be available on all the current-gen Echo speakers.

If you already own one of these devices, you can sign up for an Early Access invite now, or scroll down for links to buy one now.

Any other options?

We're anticipating that eventually, Alexa+ UK will be available on the same products as it is in the US. That means, as well as the products listed above, it will hopefully also be available on a range of previous-generation versions of the devices, too.

This guide to which devices Alexa+ will work on has a full list for you to browse. Remember, though, that's based on US info, and there's a chance things won't be exactly the same in the UK.

Looking to buy an Echo device? make it easier to tell your different options apart, I've put together some handy specs tables.

Amazon Echo Show device specs

I'll start with the Amazon Echo Show devices, which are the options with a screen and a camera. If you're set on one of these, you'll find a bit more info in my guide to which Amazon Echo Show to buy.

Amazon Echo Spot, Dot and Studio specs

Next, let's look at the no-screen options. These have a range of names, but the rule is if the word 'Show' isn't in there, there's no screen.
