The Breville Barista Express falls to a record-low price ahead of Prime Day, so it might finally be the time I upgrade my home coffee maker
This discount on the 4.5-star-rated coffee machine has caught my eye
I think it's finally about time I get a good coffee maker for my home. Years of getting by with a drip filter machine and disappointment after buying a cheap milk frother mean my eye has been drawn to a proper espresso machine. And now, with Prime Day almost here, I've spotted this deal on the Breville/Sage Barista Express that has me tempted to upgrade.

Why has this one caught my eye in particular? Well, it's a record-low price for the top-rated Breville/Sage Barista Express. Plus, it's one that our experts have picked as one of the best espresso machines we've tested.
With its ability to make all sorts of drinks with ease, a bevy of adjustable settings, a handy integrated grinder, and a powerful steam wand for milk texturing, it has everything I need to help me skip the coffee shop and whip up a brew at home. It'll be an investment now, but with the amount of on-the-go coffee I've been buying lately, it'll pay for itself in no time, I'm sure.
Today's best espresso machine deals
The Breville Barista Express is on par with some of the best espresso machines we've reviewed here at TechRadar. It has a higher learning curve than the average espresso machine, but it allows you to hone your coffee skills to make drinks exactly how you like them. This is a return to the record-low price for the entry-level espresso maker and it remains a number one best-seller at Amazon, so it's looking like the right time for me to upgrade.
The exact same coffee maker is called the Sage Barista Express in the UK — and it's also down to a record-low price. The fact that we awarded it 4.5 stars in our review for its ease of use, bevvy of customisable settings, and tasty results makes me think it could be the exact upgrade I need for my kitchen. While it's still a pricey machine, I think it's worth the investment as I want to get into coffee-making at home.
What's helping convince me even more that this could be the right coffee machine for me is our very positive Breville/Sage the Barista Express review, in which we awarded the appliance an impressive 4.5 stars out of five.
We highlighted how simple it was to use, the many adjustable settings to get your drink exactly right, and the "tasty espresso" our reviewer enjoyed. Given that I'm a bit of a coffee newbie too, I appreciate that it isn't too complex, but I'm willing to experiment with all the different options to get drinks how I want them. That should be a fun learning experience.
The full price is definitely a pain point, but the sting is taken out a little with this cut to the cheapest it's ever been in both the US and the UK. Can't ask for more than that right now, so I will be pondering on it a bit more before considering hitting the buy button.
