The Jura J10 is the next best thing to having a barista in your kitchen, and it's our Home Device of the Year 2025

Cold-brew coffee has been a huge trend in 2025. I've tested a new coffee machine every month (often two), and almost all of them have offered some kind of cold-brewing function. Some of these work better than others; some machines actually extract your coffee using cold water, allowing it extra time to infuse, while others just tell you to put ice in a cup and dump a shot of hot espresso on top – but none does it better than the Jura J10, which is why it's taken the prize for Home Device of the Year in the TechRadar Choice Awards 2025.
The J10 is the closest thing to having a friendly barista at your beck and call 24/7, and if your usual order is so complicated it requires footnotes and a glossary, it's the coffee maker for you.
First of all, it makes a darn good espresso. This is a bean-to-cup machine, so it handles grinding, tamping, and brewing for you, and during my tests it delivered exceptional results every time. Espresso was perfectly balanced with thick crema, and was so delicious I had to pace myself during testing so I didn't overdo the caffeine.
Take your pick
This espresso is the foundation of the J10's dizzying array of drinks. There are 42 options in total, but the machine will narrow down the selection displayed depending on where you place your cup. Position it under the main dispenser, and you'll only see drinks involving coffee and water. Place it on the right-hand side and the list will change to show lattes, cappuccinos, and other milky options. The system is called Coffee Eye, and it's quite ingenious.
Milk (dairy or plant-based) is held in a lidded glass cup, which you can store in the fridge between drinks. When you select a milky drink, the J10 sucks out the appropriate amount, heats and froths it to the optimum consistency, and pours it neatly into your cup. I love a latte macchiato, and those prepared by the J10 were simply perfect.
Want something a bit more elaborate? Craving a gingerbread latte, or something with pumpkin spice? That's where the J10's Sweetfoam system comes in. Pour your chosen syrup (regular or sugar-free) into a small plastic vessel included with the machine, push it onto the dispenser, and it will be infused into the milk as it steams. It works beautifully, and because the flavor is spread evenly throughout your whole cup, a tiny bit of syrup goes a long way.
Time to chill
Then there's cold-brewing. The Jura J10 achieves this by sending pulses of cold water through your freshly-ground coffee at high pressure, with the overall process taking about a minute for a double shot. Add some extra water and a few ice cubes and you'll have an iced americano that tastes strikingly similar to coffee infused overnight in the fridge, with the same mellow but rounded flavor, without bitterness.

It doesn't end there; the Jura J10 can also foam cold milk, and infuse it with syrup too. Iced hazelnut latte? Coming right up. When you're in the mood for something chilled, you can filter the J10's menu by temperature at the tap of a button, so you only see the beverages you want.
The J10 is a piece of cake to clean as well, which is a relief. Although super automatic espresso machines make brewing individual drinks faster, they sometimes take so long to clean that you don't actually save any time overall. That's not the case with the J10, which rinses itself automatically when not in use, and gives you a friendly alert when it's time for more intensive cleaning.
This flexibility and performance doesn't come cheap, and the Jura J10 has a list price of £1,795 / AU$3,990 (about $2,300), but it's not the most expensive super automatic espresso machine around, and it's received a price cut since I reviewed it back in April. All of that adds up to make it our Home Device of the Year.
