Sometimes you don't realise something is missing from your life until it goes on sale at Amazon. This is the case for me and Lego's 5,471-piece Barad-dûr kit, with its five-level interior — including a library and weapons forge — and light-up Eye of Sauron that could stare me down while I watch TV.
Discounts are rare on this set, but there's currently 15% off in the Amazon Spring Deal Days sale, taking it down to the cheapest price we've ever seen. Unfortunately, it's still £339.98, which means I probably can't actually buy it. (Not to mention the fact in my flat I suspect this supersized build will be not so much a 'striking centerpiece' as 'a massive obstruction to getting around'.)
Luckily, there are many other Lego deals available, including a more appropriately sized Balrog Book Nook that can be squeezed into your bookshelf rather than taking up an entire side table. Lord of the Rings not your thing? No problem. There are also price drops on Harry Potter-, Star Wars-, Mario-, and Marvel-themed kits. What's that, you're not a nerd at all? Fine, take a look at the Lego Botanicals deals, which are extra-generous right now, to tie in with Mothers' Day.
