This Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook is a very basic device, but it's ridiculously cheap, making it a good buy for general web browsing, admin tasks and schoolwork. It won't offer great performance and will struggle with anything beyond light use, but the lean ChromeOS gets more from the entry-level components and ensures a lengthy full-day battery life.

Chromebooks tend to be the better choice in this price range as they offer better value for money and get stronger performance from relatively cheaper components. Nevertheless, I think this Asus Vivobook 14 is a surprisingly good low-cost Windows device. It has a fairly low-end spec, but you still get 8GB of RAM and an Intel i3 processor, which can cover the basics without a dramatic performance dip. This is one to buy if you want a Windows laptop for general everyday use, word processing, streaming shows, web browsing, video calls, or answering emails.

Another fairly basic Chromebook here, but one that comes with a bump up to 8GB of RAM to help with performance. It's still best-suited to general use because of the weaker processor and limited storage space, but it's up to the job of web browsing, light work, writing documents, and streaming media. Plus, you get the superior battery life of up to 11.5 hours with this Chromebook, compared to similarly priced Windows machines.

One of the best cheap laptops in Best Buy's current batch of offers is this Lenovo IdeaPad 1 with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a reasonable 256GB SSD. These all work together to ensure good overall performance and enough essential speedy storage for the price. Even though I've seen a similar spec for under $300 in the past, I still recommend it now if you're on a budget and need a laptop for general everyday use, admin tasks, light work, or schoolwork.

Chromebook Plus devices offer more power than their standard counterparts, and this HP 14 is an excellent example. With an Intel i3 processor, 8GB of RAM and a decent 256GB of storage, you should expect solid performance for general everyday use. As a neat bonus, it's a 2-in-1 device, so you can flip the touchscreen around into tablet mode for easier navigation and a more comfortable experience watching media.

If you want a capable all-around machine at a fantastic price, you can't really go wrong with this one.

You can comfortably handle everyday tasks, demanding work, video calls, media streaming and more with this laptop, all with the option to flip it around to a 14-inch touchscreen tablet when the need arises, too.

Newer M3 and M4 models are now available, but this is an unbelievable price for the MacBook Air 13-inch with an M2 chip. Sure, it's an older version, but this is still an incredibly powerful laptop if you need a premium powerhouse for school and productivity tasks, such as coding or creative work. You also get a welcome amount of RAM at 16GB to help with multitasking and limit slowdown, although the 256GB of storage feels a little paltry in 2025. Still, we rated it highly in our MacBook Air M2 review, thanks to the stylish design, clear display, impressive performance, and long 18-hour battery life.

It may essentially be just a larger version of the 13-inch MacBook Air, but if that's what you want, then that's what you get – and it's now reduced to its lowest-ever price at Best Buy. Our MacBook Air 15-inch review praised the display, performance and design, calling it an even better version of what was already the best 15-inch laptop you can buy. The jump in size does hurt one of the MacBook Air's key selling points – its portability – but this is still one impressive laptop.

It's flexible and versatile – and well-suited for everyday use, work or all of your productivity needs. This version boasts a sharp and clear 13-inch OLED display, a fast and efficient Snapdragon X Elite processor, as well as a good amount of RAM and storage to ensure excellent all-around performance and around 14 hours of battery life. It doesn't include the keyboard cover, though, so expect another $150 on top if you want the near-essential accessory.
