Yes, you can really buy this MSI Thin Gaming Laptop for under $550 at Walmart

In an ideal world, we’d all love to spend thousands on the ultimate gaming setup. For many, though, that isn’t affordable or justifiable. That’s where this gaming laptop deal will be perfect for anyone on a tight budget but still wanting to game on the move. Right now, you can buy this MSI Thin 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop at Walmart for $549 (was $899.99).
Understandably, at this price, this isn’t the most powerful of laptops by any means. It has a fairly basic Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 graphics card, in a time when we’re seeing the RTX 50-series range on much pricier models. However, if you want a gaming system that's good for light use or undemanding titles, this will do the job.
It also sports a 13th-generation Intel Core i5-13420H CPU, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB SSD. Modest but functional. A bigger highlight is its 15.6-inch full HD screen with a 144Hz refresh rate. We’re thinking it’s a good choice for students in particular.
Today’s best budget gaming laptop deal
This MSI Thin Gaming Laptop doesn’t offer the latest hardware, but it’s still good for playing many games at lower visual quality at a budget-friendly price. It has a cool-looking blue backlit keyboard for that gaming aesthetic, and its 4.1lb weight isn’t bad at all for the price. Take it to your dorm and you’ll be happy.
The best gaming laptops are some of the most expensive devices you can buy. For many people, the best budget gaming laptops are more affordable but few are as cheap as this MSI Thin.
We haven’t specifically reviewed this model, but on paper, it covers the basics on a budget. Its older 13th-generation Intel Core i5 processor teamed up with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 GPU is a basic combo, but a functional one for playing older games without issue. In particular, if you love playing Fortnite, World of Warcraft, or you favor cozy games, you’ll have no issue here.
Storage is a little low at 512GB, but it’s fine if you just play a handful of games at any time. If you’re looking for the best student laptops to take to school, this is a good bet for the casual gamer.
