Today's best Prime Day headphones deals – US

Sony WH-1000XM5: $399$319 at Walmart

Sony WH-1000XM5: was $399 now $319 at Walmart
Quite simply the newest – and best – in Sony's class-leading wireless over-ear lineup. The older XM4 were outstanding, so it'll come as little surprise to know that Sony's XM5 proposition are also incredibly hard to beat – especially with $80 off, making them a new record-low price! They don't fold up like the XM4, but they're still a comfortable, smart, great-sounding pair of headphones that block outside sound highly effectively.

JBL Tune 770NC

JBL Tune 770NC: was $129.95 now $99.95 at Amazon
These high-comfort ANC headphones are now available for 23% less, which is incredible given that they were already excellent value. The JBL Tune 770NC deliver very good audio out of the box, but they also have adjustable EQ so you can find the perfect sound for you. They also supply strong bass and impressive power, so they're perfect for high-volume listening. So, if you want access to solid ANC and sound quality rolled into one, these are an amazing-value option.

Apple AirPods Max$549now $429.95 at Amazon

Apple AirPods Max: was $549 now $429.95 at Amazon
The Apple AirPods Max are down to just $30 off their lowest price ever, thanks to this deal at Amazon. The near enough $120 discount on the MSRP makes these elite cans more affordable – and there's no catch unless you hate the green colorway, which is the only pair currently at this price (other finishes are slightly more). This is the full unadulterated Apple AirPods Max experience. Dolby Atmos sound makes them exceptionally good for listening to movies privately, while they also block out environmental noises around you.

Sony WH-CH720: $149.99 $106.95 at Amazon

Sony WH-CH720: was $149.99 now $106.95 at Amazon
This 28% off discount is being hidden by Amazon unti you add it to your cart, but it's the cheapest we've seen these Sony over-ears by some margin – their previous lowest-seen price on Amazon was $128 back in April. As we said in our four-star Sony WH-CH720 review, these mid-range Sony cans pack in a lot of audio finesse and smart features for the price. Unlike Sony's cheaper earbuds, they're not stealing flagship-like performance from the gods, but they're a comfortable, enjoyable listen, and the ANC does a good job of lowering outside noise.

Today's best Prime Day earbuds deals – US

Cambridge Audio Melomania M100: $219 $159 at Amazon

Cambridge Audio Melomania M100: was $219 now $159 at Amazon
These glorious earbuds only arrived in March 2024 and this is the first time I've ever seen a discount of any kind – so a whopping 27% saving is unreal. As TR's audio editor, I personally reviewed them (feel free to check out my glowing Cambridge Audio Melomania M100 review) and I can tell you that sonically and for noise cancellation, they're a stone cold bargain at this all-new lowest ever price.

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II:$299$169.95 at Amazon

Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II: was $299 now $169.95 at Amazon
If you want the best noise-blocking power you can get for the price, these deliver it. They also sound superb, and have a ton of useful smart features. But the headline is the noise cancellation, and you can't get better for under $170. Yes, they've been superseded (by the QuietComfort Earbuds Ultra), but we still think as an overall package the QCE II are your best bet, especially at this price. Oh, and this is the cheapest they've ever been – we'd be surprised if they go any lower, even on Prime Day itself.

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro: $219 $100.78 at Amazon

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro: was $219 now $100.78 at Amazon
The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are beautifully compact and the two-way speaker design provides detailed 24-bit audio. The ANC is seriously good too – to prove it, they earned 4.5 stars in our review. Why not the full five? The battery life was the one fly in the ointment, at only five hours from the buds and up to 18 in the case. It's important to note that they're no longer the newest Buds Pro on the block; the decidedly AirPods-esque Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have just arrived. That said, this 54% saving is unreal, if you just need a second pair…

Apple AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C): $249.99$189.99 at Amazon

Apple AirPods Pro 2 (USB-C): was $249.99 now $189.99 at Amazon
The AirPods Pro 2 are the best-selling earbuds on the planet for a reason, and this is a great deal – although do note that Amazon's early Prime Day sales had the earbuds for their lowest ever price of $169. Will they go back to this exta-$20-off soon? It could happen… You get superb sound quality, top-tier noise cancellation, excellent spatial audio, auto-switching between different Apple devices, and an unloseable case.

Apple AirPods 2: $129 $79.99 at Amazon

Apple AirPods 2: was $129 now $79.99 at Amazon
These easy-to-use AirPods quickly pair up with all your Apple devices thanks to the one-tap setup and it’s simple to switch between devices throughout the day. And this price is just 99c off the lowest they've ever been – and it's live now ahead of Prime Day! Note that these charge via the older Lightning connection, not USB-C, but still, at this price, they’re a bargain. They look and feel good in your ears and little details like Siri support and audio sharing are so useful.

Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds: $299.99 $235 at Walmart

Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds: was $299.99 now $235 at Walmart
Sony's newest flagship wireless ANC earbuds are now greatly reduced – in fact, this deal makes them only $5 more than they've ever been (having briefly dropped to $229.99 during Black Friday last year). The built-in Alexa functionality makes them a joy to interact with and enables users to listen to any track they want without having to jump on their phones. An AI-based noise reduction algorithm and bone conduction sensor might not be as effective at blocking noise as the very best in the business (read more in our Sony WF-1000XM5 review), but they still deliver great results. This price applies to the silver model, but the black version is only $4 more.

Apple AirPods 3rd Gen:$169$139.99 at Amazon

Apple AirPods 3rd Gen: was $169 now $139.99 at Amazon
This was another record-low price for AirPods – the third-gen set have fallen to $139 before, but we did see them sink to $129, an extra $10 off! If you want the spatial audio tech and short-tipped design of the AirPods Pro, but without the in-ear fit, these will work for you nicely. And of course, they've got fast pairing, Find My support, auto-switching between Apple devices, audio sharing and all the usual AirPods smarts.

Today's best Prime Day headphones deals – UK

Anker Soundcore Q20: £49.99£29.99 at Amazon

Anker Soundcore Q20: was £49.99 now £29.99 at Amazon
Here's a super-low price for an impressive pair of cheap noise-cancelling headphones. We awarded them four stars in our Anker Soundcore Q20 review for their excellent battery life, comfortable fit and solid sound quality. Of course, the noise-cancellation can't compete with the high-end options from the likes of Sony and Bose, but considering these are hundreds of pounds cheaper the value for money is undeniable if you need some basic headphones to get the job done.

Today's best Prime Day earbuds deals – UK

Nothing Ear (a): £99 £80.30 at Amazon

Nothing Ear (a): was £99 now £80.30 at Amazon
They've only been around since April 2024, so we've not seen a saving until now – and a whopping 19% off (or £18.70 back in your pocket) is a pretty big deal, especially when they got five sweet stars under intense test conditions, just see our Nothing Ear (a) review for reference. Only the black or white finishes are on offer (sorry if you were all about the yellow pair, they're still full price) but for this money, we think they're a Prime Day steal.

Cambridge Audio Melomania M100: £169 £139 at Amazon

Cambridge Audio Melomania M100: was £169 now £139 at Amazon
In the UK, these March 2024 talented earbuds are now £30 off, which means 18% of the RRP stays with you. I need to impress upon you that a) this is the first ever discount we've seen on new 2024 earbuds and b) as TR's audio editor, I personally reviewed them – feel free to check out my glowing Cambridge Audio Melomania M100 review – and for sound and noise cancellation, they're a stone cold bargain at this all-new lowest ever price.

Apple AirPods 3rd Gen:£169£157 at Amazon

Apple AirPods 3rd Gen: was £169 now £157 at Amazon
This isn't exactly a blockbuster deal, but it's the best we've found at the time of writing, so we're presenting for your enjoyment anyway! Really, we'd hope to see these drop to £149 over Prime Day (or lower), but here's where we're at so far. You get the spatial audio of AirPods Pro, but without the in-ear fit, which some people don't like (and no active noise cancellation).

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro: £219 £96.40 at Amazon

Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro: was £219 now £96.40 at Amazon
OK, so the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro have been available for around the £110 price for a few weeks, but this extra Prime Day price shaving is worth yelling about! They're beautifully compact and the two-way speaker design provides detailed 24-bit audio. The ANC is seriously good too – to prove it, they earned 4.5 stars in our review. The battery life was really the only issue under intense review, at only five hours from the buds and up to 18 in the case. Do note that they're no longer the newest Buds Pro on the block either; the decidedly AirPods-esque Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have just arrived. That said, this saving is unreal, if you just need a second pair…

AirPods Pro 2:£229£211 at Amazon

AirPods Pro 2: was £229 now £211 at Amazon
Apple's best earbuds have been cheaper than this in the past – we've seen them fall to £199 before – but if you're looking for the lowest price right now, this is it. You get glorious sound quality, top-tier active noise cancellation, spatial audio, all the usual AirPods smarts, and even an unloseable case.

Anker Soundcore P2 Mini: £35.99£19.90 at Amazon

Anker Soundcore P2 Mini: was £35.99 now £19.90 at Amazon
Anker is also offering some super-cheap earbuds as part of this year's Prime Day. While we haven't reviewed this specific model, we have tried the similar Soundcore Life P2 and found they were comfortable with decent audio performance in our four-star review. Expect about the same from these smaller buds, which won't blow you away when it comes to sound quality but are competent and boast a solid 32-hour battery life.

Amazon Prime Day headphone deals: FAQs

Bose QuietComfort 45 vs Sony WH-1000XM4

When is Amazon Prime Day 2024?

The dates for this year's Prime Day are July 16 – 17. The sale starts at midnight on Tuesday and runs for 48 hours through to 23:59 on Wednesday.

Expect all the deals to go live right at the start of the sale, with a handful of limited-time lightning deals popping up throughout. Given we've seen some Prime Day headphone deals be extremely popular in the past – especially the cheaper or budget-friendly ones – we'd suggest buying early if the cans you want are on sale.

What headphone deals to expect on Prime Day

Headphone deals have been dominated by Apple, Sony and Bose over the last few months, and we predict a very similar picture for Prime Day.

All of these brands offer highly-rated headphones and earbuds based on our testing so they'll be the ones to shop for in the upcoming sale. Look out for re-runs of record-low prices for the popular AirPods or premium WH-1000XM5 and maybe a few new lowest-ever prices for older generation models.

For those after cheaper or more budget-friendly options, the old favorite Sony WF-C500 should be reduced once again. There should also be some affordable options from the likes of JBL and Anker if you're less fussed about high-end audio quality and just need some headphones or earbuds to get you through the day or while exercising.

Speaking of, we'll have an eye out for some fitness-focused buds from Shokz and Bose – including the unique bone-conducting tech – should you want to give those a go for yourself.

Do you need Amazon Prime to buy Prime Day headphone deals?

An Amazon Prime membership was required to take full advantage of this year's Prime Day headphone deals, but anything left now will be available to all. While there are often listings open to everybody on Prime Day, the best deals are usually reserved for prime members only. If you're not a member, don't worry - you can still sign up for a free 30-day trial in the lead-up. That will give you access to all the offers – and you can cancel the trial at any time within 30 days.

We also saw plenty of other retailers offering competing Prime Day headphone deals last year. In the US, Best Buy and Walmart were price matching some of the record low prices we saw on big-ticket items, and in the UK, Currys was honoring price matches from Amazon as well.

Amazon Prime: 30-day free trial

Amazon Prime: 30-day free trial
If you've never signed up before you can get a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime to get access to this year's Prime Day deals. You get the same benefits as paid members, including free delivery, and access to other services such as Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Gaming and more. You can cancel at any time during the trial to avoid paying the regular fee, which is $14.99 / £8.99 per month.
