The Samsung Galaxy Tab S slates will go on sale in the UK from July 4, with both the 10.5-inch and 8.4-inch variants available.

In terms of price the 8.4-inch, 16GB Wi-Fi only Galaxy Tab S starts at £319, while the larger 10.5-inch, 16GB Wi-Fi only model comes in at £399.

This sees Samsung matching the prices of the tablet's closest rivals - the iPad Air and iPad Mini 2 - but we'll have to wait and see if they can impact on Apple's dominance.

You'll also be able to pick the tablets up in 32GB and Wi-Fi + LTE versions, but Samsung is yet to release pricing details for these more expensive offerings.

Both slates sport a slender 6.6mm frame, a 2560 x 1600 Super AMOLED display, 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera, 2.1MP front snapper and the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system.
