Netflix practically invented binge watching, and what makes for a more addictive sofa session than an edge-of-your-seat thriller?
Netflix is one of the best streaming services around if you’re looking for gripping viewing, with the likes of The Night Agent, His & Hers and all manner of Harlan Coben adaptations bolstering the Top 10. However, there’s more to be found on the streamer than just the heavy hitters, with addictive shows from around the globe to calling the platform home.
Below, we’ve picked out three of the best Netflix shows of 2026 so far for viewers looking for a bingeable thriller, taking in everything from US procedural to dark Irish comedy to German espionage. Here’s your next streaming obsession.
The Hunting Party
Seasons: 1
Episodes: 10
A modest hit when it aired on NBC last year, The Hunting Party stormed on to Netflix in the US in February, shooting straight into the Top 10.
The show has a fantastic hook — when an explosion at a top secret prison known as 'The Pit' frees all manner of terrifying serial killers, former FBI profiler Bex Henderson (Mellissa Roxburgh) jumps back into action to lead a team to bring them down. Said team are a mixed bunch, including a prison officer, an Army intelligence officer, a CIA agent, and, of course, Bex’s former lover.
The Hunting Party is the sort of action packed, twisty turny, lightweight entertainment you’d expect from a network procedural, but it does the job very well. The team dynamics are just the right side of soapy, and the slew of wrong ‘uns they’re tasked to track down are suitably menacing. The critics weren’t kind to the show, but audiences are loving it, and with The Hunting Party season 2 now airing on NBC, now’s a great time to join the team.

If you prefer your thrills served with a bit more grit and a lot more laughs, How to Get to Heaven from Belfast should be right up your street.
From Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee, the show follows Saoirse (Roísín Gallagher), Robyn (Sinéad Keenan) and Dara (Caoilfhionn Dunne), three childhood friends facing up to life in their 30s. When they receive news that the estranged fourth member of their group has died, strange circumstances at the wake send the trio on a quest across Ireland, but their amateur sleuthing soon sees the women in over their heads.
Boasting a 91% score on Rotten Tomatoes, How to Get to Heaven from Derry is another hit for McGee, and while the show is yet to break the Netflix Top 10 in the US, it’s currently sitting at number four in the UK. North American viewers are missing out, this one is definitely worth seeing what all the fuss is about.
Unfamiliar
Seasons: 1
Episodes: 6
You can read more about this thrilling German drama right here, but it's safe to say Unfamiliar has viewers obsessed with the espionage thriller shooting straight to the top of the charts.
The spy drama centers on husband and wife Simon and Meret Schäfer (Felix Kramer and Susanne Wolff), former spies now running a safe house in Berlin. When a threat from their past resurfaces, their cover is blown and it's not long before the pair are facing threats from contract killers, enemy agents and even their former employer. With the lives of themselves and their family at stake, Simon and Meret must confront long buried secrets — even those they’ve kept from each other.
Unfamiliar borrows from the best with shades of le Carré mixed with the veteran spy vibes of Slow Horses, all while being something utterly unique and addictively compelling. If you’re looking for a taut, edge of your seat binge, this one’s for you.
