I’ve watched the Virgin River season 7 trailer more times than I can count — and one unexpected storyline already feels like rage bait

The first full trailer for Virgin River season 7 is finally here (which you can catch up with below), and obviously, we've got more questions than answers.
I'm still reeling from the season 6 finale, but it gave us five cliffhangers to keep an eye out for. Brie (Zibby Allen) needs to decide whether she wants to marry Mike (Marco Grazzini), Brady wants to get his money back from Lark (Elise Gatien), Doc (Tim Matheson) might have his surgery taken away from him, and Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) disappeared off the face of the earth.
On top of all this, Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) are propositioned when Mel's surrogate patient turns up at the cabin after her wedding – the parents, that the pair have been working with all season long, are backing out of the adoption. The surrogate wants Mel to have the baby, leaving her stunned, but the season 7 trailer indicates the the newlyweds have agreed to the deal.
Not only has this bothered me, but Netflix is teasing us with other storylines in all the wrong ways, and honestly I'm convinced the streamer wants us to be angry.
Forget Mel and Jack's surrogacy journey – don't get me started on Doc, Hope, Brie and Brady
It goes without saying that Mel and Jack's surrogacy plot isn't going to be tied up with a neat "we'd love to have that baby, actually" line of dialogue. Instead, it's going to be a will-they-won't-they ride that possibly won't give us a clear answer until Virgin River season 8.
Think that's frustrating? Let's take a look at the sub-plots the trailer presents us with. Brady suggests that he and Brie are "just friends" while she's nursing a drink at Jack's bar, hinting that regardless of her decision about Mike, she's not getting back with Brady any time soon. It's a tale as old as time, and Netflix is stringing this on-off romance out forever.
Then for no reason at all, Doc and Hope (Annette O'Toole) appear to be on the rocks after Hope's ex came back on the scene in season 6. She made it clear then that she despised him, but needed his help rehabilitating Sugar the horse. Why this would have changed on a whim is beyond me, and it feels like the rift is merely designed to make us angry.

Lizzie's (Sarah Dugdale) potential PTSD after giving birth is a lot more realistic, and easily slots into the overarching narrative between her and partner Denny (Kai Bradbury). As for everything else... we're being taken for a ride.
My advice? Don't believe anything you see as it's presented in the Virgin River season 7 trailer. When it comes to this small town, nothing is as it seems, and we're only scratching the surface of what's actually to come. Besides, where on Earth is Charmaine?
