The Disney+ price hike has arrived in the UK – here’s how your subscription will be affected

- Disney+ has confirmed its recent price hike extends to UK customers
- The change is already in effect, having been introduced on September 30
- The price hike will affect all Disney+ tiers
Days after we reported the latest Disney+ price hike for US customers, we can now confirm the change will affect those in the UK too.
One of the best streaming services has announced price increases across every single subscription, including ad-free plans. This came into effect on September 30.
The Disney+ 'Standard with Ads' tier has jumped from £4.99 per month to £5.99 per month. Meanwhile, the 'Standard' (with ads) plan has jumped from £8.99 per month to £9.99 per month, or £89.90 per year to £99.90 per year – to see the full list of price changes, including for the Disney+ 'Premium' plan, see further below.
It's been a turbulent time for Disney's streaming service as recently, Disney+, Hulu and ESPN suffered a major blow after millions of fans reportedly closed their accounts over the Jimmy Kimmel row.
What are the new Disney+ tier prices?
I've outlined the old and new costs of Disney+ in the UK below, where subscribers are seeing an 11% to 20% increase depending on which tier they're on.
At a glance, it's frustrating to see that even Disney+'s cheapest tier has become more expensive. Given the news, I wouldn't be surprised if customers choose to cancel their subscriptions entirely.
Plan | Old Price | New Price |
Disney+ Standard with Ads | £4.99 per month | £5.99 per month |
Disney+ Standard (monthly) | £8.99 per month | £9.99 per month |
Disney+ Standard (annual) | £89.90 per year | £99.90 per year |
Disney+ Premium (monthly) | £12.99 per month | £14.99 per month |
Disney+ Premium (annual) | £129.90 per year | £149.90 per year |
Despite the increases, Disney+'s 'Premium' tier is still cheaper than Netflix's equivalent (without ads) tier, which is £18.99 per month, so fans of the best Disney+ shows and best Disney+ movies are still paying less than rivals.

Price hikes are always disappointing news, but there are a few ways you can save cash on a Disney+ subscription even if the new pricing plans are inevitable.
One of the best ways to pay less for a subscription is to look at whether there are any offers that allow you to get a Disney+ free trial. While Disney no longer offers this introductory deal, you can still find it as part of a perk to a mobile, broadband or retail membership in certain areas, so it's worth exploring.
