Apple TV drops ominous teaser for comedy horror show Widow's Bay — and the Twin Peaks vibes have already got me hooked

Widow's Bay is already shaping up to be one of the best Apple TV shows in my opinion. A sneak peek for the new horror comedy series was shared on March 24, and I can't help but compare it to Twin Peaks.

The teaser, despite being short, was more than enough to keep my interest. Filmed in a 4:3 aspect ratio like an old VHS, we see a man inviting to show us around Widow's Bay, before walking off into the distance. We follow him for what seems like a very long time while some upbeat music plays, but something isn't quite right.

Eagle-eyed fans have pointed out you can slow the video down at the 0:59 mark, and there's something lurking beneath the static. See for yourself...

What do we know about Widow's Bay?

Widow's Bay was created by Parks and Recreation writer Katie Dippold, with Hiro Murai directing. Murai is known for his work on HBO Max's Barry, as well as for directing music videos for stars like Childish Gambino.

This unsettling town is full of secrets and rumours, but its skeptical mayor refuses to believe in any claims that the place is cursed. Of course, that's a recipe for disaster, and over six episodes we'll find out exactly why he's wrong.

Apple TV shows have been consistently great, with Severance and Pluribus being up there with my favorite shows of all time. So seeing them taking on a horror comedy like this has definitely caught my eye, and I'll be tuning in as soon as the episodes are released.

We're being treated to a three-episode drop on April 29, so if you're a binge watcher like me, you can dive right in. Following episodes will then be released weekly.

I'm counting down the days until I can learn the truth about Widow's Bay.
