Vivo X Fold, Vivo Pad, Vivo X Note launched in China - Here's everything you need to know

After weeks of leaks and speculation, the company launched the Vivo X Fold, Vivo X Note and Vivo Pad during an event yesterday in China. Some of these devices like the Vivo X Note could also make their way to the Indian market alongside the X80 series smartphones.

Vivo X Fold as well as the Vivo Pad are the company’s first products to be launched in their respective categories of foldable smartphones and tablet PCs. These new products will compete with Samsung’s own Galaxy Fold 3 and Apple’s iPad Pro lineup.

Here is everything you need to know about the new launches from Vivo.

Vivo X Fold, Vivo X Note and Vivo Pad pricing 

All three products that have been announced yesterday are currently only available in China however we do expect the company to bring them to the Indian market in the near future.

The Vivo X Fold is available in 2 colours - Sunny Mountain Blue and Sycamore Ash. The smartphone comes with 12GB RAM in two variants. The 256GB storage variant costs CNY 8,999 (approximately Rs 107,465) while the 512GB variant costs CNY 9,999 (approximately Rs 119,407).

The Vivo X Note is available in three variants with a colour choice of Sunny Mountain Blue, Earth Grey and Bright Night Black. The smartphone comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage priced at CNY 5,999 (approximately Rs 71,639). It also comes with 12GB RAM and a choice of either 256GB or 512GB of storage which cost CNY 6,499 and CNY 6,999 respectively (approximately Rs 77,610 and Rs 83581).

Talking about the Vivo Pad, it is priced at CNY 2,499 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant (approximately Rs 29,856) while a bump in storage to 256GB costs CNY 2,999 (approximately Rs 35,830)

Vivo X Fold specifications 

Under the hood, the smartphone runs on the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and features an 8.03-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a 2K resolution with a 4:3.5 aspect ratio on the inside. The display also houses a punch-hole 16-megapixel camera located at the top-right corner.

The outer display on the other hand is a 6.53-inch 120Hz display with a 21:9 aspect ratio which also houses the punch-hole front-facing camera at the top. The company is the first to include a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under both displays in the smartphone.

In terms of camera, the Vivo X Fold features Carl Zeiss a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a secondary 48-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 60x zoom 8-megapixel periscope telephoto lens and a 12-megapixel camera for portrait shots. The primary camera and the telephoto lens both come with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

The Vivo X Fold is powered by a 4,600 mAh battery pack while supporting 66W charging out of the box. The smartphone is also compatible with 50W wireless charging. It runs on the company’s new OriginOS Ocean based on Android 12. In terms of connectivity, the Vivo X Fold comes with Bluetooth 5.2, support for Wi-Fi 6 as well as MU-MIMO.

Vivo X Note specifications 

The Vivo X Note takes on the Galaxy S22 Ultra in sheer size with its 7-inch 120Hz 2K display LTPO adaptive refresh rate with HDR10+. The smartphone also comes with the same flagship SoC that comes with the Vivo X Fold. The company has also added Vivo’s own V1 chipset which works in tandem with the Snapdragon chipset. The smartphone also features the 3D ultrasonic fingerprint under the display which enables two-finger payment authentication.

The smartphone comes with a 5,000 mAh battery pack that supports 80W fast charging out of the box. The Vivo X Note shares the same camera, software and connectivity features as the Vivo X Fold.

Vivo Pad specifications 

The Vivo Pad is the Chinese company’s first tablet PC and is expected to compete with Apple’s premium iPad Pro. The tablet comes with an 11-inch 120Hz display with a 2K resolution with support for Dolby Vision HDR. At the heart of the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC.

The tablet PC runs on OriginOS HD which shares a lot of common features with iPadOS in terms of functionality and animations while also having its own set of accessories like the Smart Touch Keyboard and Vivo Pad Stylus.

The tablet PC comes with a 13-megapixel primary camera and a secondary 8-megapixel ultrawide lens on the rear. For video calls and selfies, the Vivo Pad comes with an 8-megapixel shooter.

The tablet is powered by an 8,040 mAh battery pack that supports 44W charging via Type-C. For entertainment features, the Vivo Tab comes with quad-speakers similar to the iPad Pro models.
