Plenty of new movies have already hit theaters in the first two months in 2026, and there'll be no letting up on the near releases front as we enter March.
Indeed, this weekend (March 6-8) sees two new potentially heavy hitters in Hoppers and The Bride! land on a screen near you. Will you opt for some animated Disney Pixar fun, or a slice of gothic horror? Heck, why not watch both!?

Hoppers

The latest Pixar film attempting to not be a box office disappointment, Hoppers introduces us to Mabel, an animal lover whose consciousness is transferred into a lifelike robotic beaver when she uses an experimental piece of tech. Now able to communicate with the fauna surrounding her home town, Mabel sets out to uncover the animal kingdom's many secrets – and do a spot of environmental awareness along the way.
Will Hoppers prove that Pixar finally has its mojo back before Toy Story 5 inevitably becomes a blockbuster hit later this year? Judging by its 96% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes (RT), journalists seems to think it's *ahem* knaw-some. Let's see if the general public thinks the same.
The Bride!

The second film inspired by the 'Frankenstein' novels to arrive in the space of four months, The Bride! showcases recent multi-award winner Jessie Buckley's undeniable talents once more in this otherwise average gothic sci-fi romance flick (NB: it's sitting at 61% on RT as of March 6).
Directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal, The Bride! sees Buckley play the eponymous character, a recently-deceased woman who's brought back to life by Doctor Euphronious (Anette Bening) at the behest of Frankenstein's Monster (Christian Bale), so he finally has a companion to call his own. Inevitably, sparks fly as they pair embark on a misadventure filled with, per Warner Bros. Pictures, "Murder! Possession! A wild and radical cultural movement! And outlaw lovers in a wild and combustible romance!"
The Moment
Release date: out now (worldwide)
Brat summer is out and satirical winter is in. From acclaimed indie studio A24, The Moment stars pop sensation Charlie XCX, who portrays a fictional version of herself as she prepares for her arena tour debut, and navigates the pressures of fame and an industry that's very much set in its ways.
The Moment won't appeal to everyone – that much is clear so far by its slightly positive 66% RT critical score – but I'll be shocked if Charlie XCX fans don't turn this one into one of the biggest surprises of 2026. Given its 76% audience rating, it appears many liked it, too.
How to Make a Killing
Release date: out now (US and Australia); March 13 (UK)
Glen Powell will hope this dark comedy-thriller will give him the A-list boost he needs after last year's The Running Man remake underwhelmed at the box office. Based on its poor Rotten Tomatoes (RT) critical score (46%), though, I didn't expect it to do well, but audiences (78%) seem to like it for what it is.
How to Make a Killing follows Becket Redfellow (Powell), a blue-collar worker who was disowned by his incredibly wealthy family from birth. When the opportunity presents itself for Redfellow to acquire the inheritance he believes he deserves, he'll stop at nothing to get it – no matter how many family members stand in his way. Margaret Qualley, Jessica Henwick, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, and Ed Harris are among its supporting cast.
Reminders of Him
Release date: March 13 (worldwide)
The latest Colleen Hoover book to be brought to the silver screen, Reminders of Him stars Maika Monroe as Kenna, who returns to her home town after a seven-year stint in jail to make up for lost time with the daughter she's never known. There, she struggles to get access to her offspring, but finds solace in former NFL player and local bar owner Ledger (Tyriq Withers), which sets this dramady's story in motion.
Hoover's other book-to-film adaptations have received mixed reviews upon release and had varying levels of success from money-spinning perspectives, too, so it's unclear how well this one will perform.
The Breadwinner
Release date: March 13 (US and UK); TBC (Australia)
Comedian Nate Bargatze will make his feature film debut in this slapstick Sony Pictures flick that follows family man Nate Wilcox. When his wife Katie (Mandy Moore) gets the opportunity to appear on Shark Tank and present a business opportunity to its potential investors, Nate's partner embarks on a prolonged trip, leaving him to be a stay-at-home dad. So ensues a whole host of mishaps and misadventures.
The Breadwinner won't appeal to everyone, but its first trailer has been viewed over 38 million times, so I wouldn't be amazed if it's one of March 2026's unexpected hits.
Undertone
Release date: March 13 (worldwide)
The latest in a long line of A24-produced horror films, Undertone will aim to scare us silly with its precision use of sound to really unsettle viewers.
Nina Kiri stars as Evy, a paranormal sceptic and podcast co-host who seemingly finds herself at the mercy of a horrifying supernatural entity after purposefully listening to 10 recordings of an otherworldly presence back-to-back. Which, as any right-minded person will tell you, you shouldn't do.
Project Hail Mary
Release date: March 20 (worldwide)
One of this year's most anticipated new movies, Project Hail Mary promises to deliver sci-fi spectacle alongside an intimate and dramatic tale of survival against the odds.
Based on David Weir's bestselling 2021 book namesake, it stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, an ordinary science teacher. Hand-picked by NASA and the European Space Agency to embark on a potentially galaxy-saving mission, Grace travels to the far reaches of the solar system to work out why the sun is dying. Ryland soon learns, though, that our sun isn't the only one being affected by an unusual substance – and, as Project Hail Mary's official trailer revealed (read: spoiled ahead of time) works together with an alien he names Rocky to get to the bottom of this mystery.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come

Picking up exactly where its black comedy horror thriller forbear ended, Ready or Not 2 will reunite us with Samara Weaving's severely injured and traumatized Grace. Thinking her nightmare is over, Grace soon learns that her problems have only just begun. Indeed, when the rest of the mysterious Council's come out to play, they force Grace to engage in another deadly game of cat and mouse by throwing her younger, estranged sister Faith (Kathryn Newton) into the mix.
Judging by its trailers, Here I Come looks like it'll be another gruesome albeit extremely fun and occasionally laugh-out-loud funny flick.
They Will Kill You

Zazie Beetz will lead an all-star cast in this action-black comedy horror that looks like it'll be a wild ride from start to finish.
They Will Kill You sees Beetz play an unnamed woman who responds to a 'help wanted' ad to be the new housekeeper of an enigmatic New York high-rise called The Virgil. It doesn't take long, however, for Beetz's protagonist to learn that it's home to a demonic cult. Cue our titular character having to fight her way out of The Virgil or become the cult's next sacrificial offering. Myha’La, Paterson Joseph, Tom Felton, Heather Graham, and Patricia Arquette also star.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

The sequel to the billion dollar-making The Super Mario Bros. Movie, the next Nintendo film to hit theaters will introduce more characters, worlds, and Easter eggs to fans new and old in early April.
After defeating Bowser last time around, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will see Mario and company embark on a new quest to thwart Baby Bowser's plan to rescue his father and save the day once more. The Drama

The first of three new movies that Zendaya and Robert Pattinson will star in this year, The Drama is a black comedy romantic film that I fully expect to be a big hit.
In it, the A-listers play Emma and Charlie, a couple who are days away from marrying the other. However, when a dark secret from Emma's past emerges, it completely changes the way that they see each other and threatens to destroy their 'happy ever after' moment. Kristoffer Borgli is on directing duties, while Mamoudou Athie, Alana Haim, and Hailey Gates are part of its supporting roster.
You, Me, and Tuscany
Release date: April 10 (worldwide)
From Universal Pictures, this traditional rom-com stars Haelle Bailey as Anna, a young, spirited cook who heads to Tuscany on a whim to live in a villa owned by a man named Lorenzo (Marco Calvani) who she barely knows. Cue a tale of misadventures, love, and deceit, especially when Anna soon falls for Lorenzo's cousin Michael (Rene-Jean Page).
A film that bears all the hallmarks of a being a saccharine story that genre fans will love, but others will probably want to steer clear of.
Lee Cronin's The Mummy

Not to be confused with any of the numerous other films starring the eponymous bandaged Egyptian monster, Lee Cronin's The Mummy will look to put a unique spin on a tale that's long frightened us.
In it, a couple receive the incredibly emotional news that, eight years after their daughter vanished without a trace, she's unexpectedly be found. However, the broken family's joy turns into a living nightmare when their seemingly cursed first-born causes all manner of horrors at home. Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, May Calamawy, Natalie Grace, and Veronica Falcón star in this highly anticipated supernatural horror.
Michael
Release date: April 24 (worldwide)
It was only a matter of time before a Michael Jackson biopic was developed — and fans of the legendary and controversial pop superstar will get to watch one when Michael premieres in late April.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Jackson's nephew Jaafar as the titular character, it'll cover the eponymous singer's life and career. From his time fronting the Jackson 5 and become a music megastar in his own right, to all the behind-the-scenes drama of his formative years, Michael promises to be a must-see for his devoted fans. A sequel, which would likely cover the rest of his controversy-laced life, is yet to be officially announced.

The Devil Wears Prada 2

Legacy sequels have never looked so chic. That's right, the follow-up to beloved comedy-drama The Devils Wears Prada hits cinemas this May, so millennials of a certain disposition won't want to move at a glacial pace to see it.
As for what it plot entails, Anne Hathaway's Andy reunites with Runway's sharp-tongued editor-in-chief Miranda (Meryl Streep) and assistant-turned-luxury brand head Emily (Emily Blunt). Together, they'll try to shore up the struggling fashion magazine to ensure its survival in a rapidly-changing media landscape. Stanley Tucci also stars.
Hokum
Release date: May 1 (worldwide)
Severance star Adam Scott puts his Apple TV-based innie and outie to one side for this supernatural horror that'll aim to make your spin tingle with dread.
In Hokum, Scott plays Ohm Bauman, an author who travels to a remote part of Ireland to spread the ashes of his recently deceased parents. While there, he soon suspects that the accommodation he's rented is haunted. Cue night terrors, spooks, and jump scares aplenty.
Billie Eilish: Hit Me Soft and Hard

Originally set to arrive in mid-March, Billie Eilish: Hit Me Soft and Hard will let the popular and award-winning singer-songwriter's fans re-experience her latest tour in an immersive 3D format
Recorded live during one of the shows for her third studio album, the concert film was directed by none other than James Cameron. You can already bet on this musical feature being a visually impressive, eye-popping experience, then.
Mortal Kombat II
Release date: May 8 (worldwide)
With its arrival now locked in for a pre-summer release (that's winter for those in the Southern hemisphere), Mortal Kombat II will aim to write its name into the growing pantheon of top-tier videogame adaptations.
This time, the focus shifts to fan-favorite character Johnny Cage (Karl Urban), whose big-screen debut was teased in one of 2021's Mortal Kombat's mid-credits scenes. Here, the washed-up movie star will have to answer the call to help Earthrealm's heroes see of Shao Khan, who wants to bring our world under his tyrannical rule.
Many of its forebear's cast have been told to "get over here!" and return for the sequel, while many new faces, including Kitana (Adeline Rudolph), Khan (Martyn Ford), and Jade (Tati Gabrielle) join the fray.
Obsession

The second horror film to hit theaters in May, Obsession tells the tale of Bear (Michael Johnston), a hopeless romantic and music store employee who gets more than he bargained for.
Indeed, using a supernatural novelty toy called the 'One Wish Willow', he asks it to make his long-time crush Nikki fall in love with him. As you can already imagine, things take a dark turn from that moment on.
