IKEA showed off a new range of furniture at Milan Design Week, including an inflatable chair that's turning heads and dropping jaws. The IKEA PS 2026 Easy Chair is a far cry from the uncomfortable, tacky plastic inflatables of the 1990s. Instead, this super lightweight armchair consists of two cushions covered in soft green fabric, with a chrome-colored carbon steel frame. It can be inflated with a foot pump, and you can add more air for a firm feel, or less if you want a soft seat.
The chair will be available in IKEA's online store on May 21, so there's plenty of time to think about how to style it in your home. It's a striking piece, so I'd choose to make it the star, using light oak veneer furniture as a base, and building around it with chrome and green accents.
Light fittings are a great way to add a pop of color, and the Spetsboj Table Lamp provides a little splash of green that should perfectly match the armchair. For ambient lighting, I've also picked Simrishamn ceiling and floor lights that match the chair's curvy chrome frame, with frosted opal diffusers to prevent the room looking clinical.
I'd finish the look with Fejka artificial potted plants, which soften the look even further while complementing the chair's striking green upholstery. Would you do something different? Let me know in the comments.
