Amazon is set to enter the UK's e-book market this year, with "advanced negotiations" taking place to bring the device to our shores.
According to Mobile Today, the electronic retailer is looking to get the e-book into the UK as soon as possible, with the only thing holding it back being a solid deal with a mobile operator to sort out an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator).
This is to cater for the Kindle's wireless mobile data, for downloading e-books and RSS feeds while on the go.
No timeline announced
Europe-wise, the Kindle's data is managed through Vodafone in Germany and Orange in France, so it's anyone's guess who will take on the Kindle mantle for the UK.
While Mobile Today is not divulging its sources, it has noted that an Amazon spokesperson has quashed the rumours, saying: "We have previously announced that we are looking to release the Kindle with our international customers. At the moment we have no timeline."
When TechRadar spoke to a Sony insider recently, they hinted that an update of its e-book, the Reader was on the cards. Looks like the e-book market is going to hot up.
