America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season 3 drops first emotional Netflix trailer — and fans are convinced that this veteran is retiring early after getting 'too much screentime'
At this point, any retirements are just rumors
- Netflix has dropped the first trailer for America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season 3
- All episodes will be released on June 16
- Retirement rumors for veteran Reece Weaver reignited after getting 'too much screentime' in clips
Netflix has dropped the first full trailer for America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season 3, confirming that its seven new episodes will arrive on the streamer on June 16.
We're set to follow the classic audition to end of season journey that fans enjoyed over the first two seasons, but there's a twist this time.
As cheerleader director Kelli Finglass points out in the trailer (which you can catch up with below), season 3 marks the first time that the judges and creative team are selecting from candidates who have applied because they've seen the hit Netflix show.
Whether this changes the process remains to be seen, but the trailer also reveals that country singer Kacey Musgraves has been brought in to help judge the first round of dance auditions.
While fans are excited for new episodes to drop, the frequent appearance of one veteran cheerleader throughout the season 3 trailer has raised alarm bells that she's retiring — after rumors have been circulating online for months.
Reece Weaver retirement rumors resurface after Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders 'insider' claim
Having joined the team as a rookie in season 1 of America's Sweethearts, Reece Weaver quickly became a fan-favorite. Returning as a veteran for the second year in a row in season 3, she could still cheer for another two years before she'd have to hand her uniform in, as per the squad's five-year rule.
However, rumors suggest that Reece will retire by the end of season 3, and the fact she's shown so much in the above trailer hasn't helped the assumption. As one TikTok comment points out, "Reece being so present in the trailer is another sign of retirement, I'd say."

"I have a feeling Reece is retiring... noooooo!" another weighs in, with a third adding "I'm just glad to see Reece there."
As the comments suggests, retirement rumors had already been flying around, with Reddit threads suggesting that a DCC "insider" first claimed Reece's exit was true.
"If she’s retiring, and I believe she is, it’s got to be to do something bigger/beyond DCC, so I would assume if she’s not part of Dancing with the Stars this season, she’s got some periphery involvement to it," one commenter guesses.
Another responds, "Honestly, she and [husband] Will should do YouTube. There’s a big bag in YouTube if they want to do vlogs or family content. It would be a good pivot !"
As the season 3 trailer highlights the negativity cheerleaders are now receiving on social media as a knock-on effect of being so visible on Netflix, others speculate that trolling could also play a part in her potential departure.
It's too early to say if America's Sweethearts will confirm or deny the rumors by the time the seven episodes are up, or if they will be addressed in the foreseeable future.
