As always, the world's best streaming services come bearing gifts in the form of new movies and shows to check out — and this week's line-up is a doozy. Indeed, from the return of Netflix's popular live-action adaptation of One Piece and the official streaming debut on Zootopia 2, to the biggest awards night of the year in The Oscars, there's plenty to stream before Monday rolls back around. Zootopia 2 (Disney+)
Well if it isn't the highest-grossing Hollywood animated film ever made. Zootopia 2 smashed box office records like it was cracking eggs for an omelette, and now is finally its time to shine on Disney+, with unlikely buddy cop duo Judy and Nick returning to tackle the mystery of a snake seen in the city for the first time in years.
Article continues belowFrankly, I'm still annoyed that the movie isn't called Twotopia, but when a Disney movie's moral messaging is this good, we can't have it all. One Piece season 2 (Netflix)
It's time to set sail for One Piece season 2 as Netflix's hit live-action adaptation returns. It's been a huge surprise for anime fans who've been let down by similar projects (*cough* Cowboy Bebop and Avatar: The Last Airbender *cough*). Thankfully, One Piece has faired far better.
Its second season is a binge-worthy affair, too. With this latest installment covering the Arabast arc, it's bigger and better than ever with excellent fight scenes, laugh out loud moments, and higher stakes. There'll be plenty more where that came from too, as One Piece season 3 is already in development. — Lucy Buglass, senior entertainment writer
Scarpetta (Prime Video)
Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis lead the cast of intriguing new Prime Video crime show Scarpetta. Based on Patricia Cornwell's book series, it follows brilliant forensic pathologist Doctor Kay Scarpetta (Kidman), as she unravels mysteries and solves crimes across Florida, Virginia, and South Carolina.
The series also tackles Scarpetta's relationship with her older sister, niece, and other key figures in her life. With a strong cast attached, I can see this being another hit for Amazon, especially since Cornwell already has a dedicated fanbase waiting to tune in. — LB
The Madison (Paramount+)
What if I told you that The Madison is unironically the best Taylor Sheridan show created thus far? It's not a Yellowstone spin-off by any stretch, but you can still expect lashings of vulnerable family drama against the most stunning Montana mountain backdrop.
If Landman and Virgin River had a TV baby for Paramount+, it would be this. Indeed, the Clyburn family (led by Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell) looks to leave their plush New York City life behind for the rustic hills of Montana after a family tragedy sends them to the edge.
It's almost annoying how well Taylor Sheridan can write female characters, but it's Pfeiffer who reminds us why she should be cast in absolutely everything. Before you watch it, get the full lowdown on what to expect from The Madison. — JV
Fukushima: A Nuclear Nightmare (HBO Max)
British documentary filmmaker James Jones is back with Fukushima: A Nuclear Nightmare, giving us an insight into the the 2011 nuclear plant incident. He previously made Chernobyl: The Lost Tapes for HBO Max, which followed the harrowing dramatization of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, which was helmed by The Last of Us showrunner Craig Mazin.
You can be sure, then, that this new documentary will treat the incident with the sensitivity it deserves. Featuring interviews with government advisors, power plant engineers, consultants, journalists, and emergency workers, its in-depth look at what happened will make for an incredibly emotional watch. — LB
Virgin River season 7 (Netflix)
Virgin River season 7 is undeniably one of the must-see Netflix events of the year (in my opinion, anyway), but just because Mel and Jack are finally married doesn't mean the small-town drama suddenly stops.
The season 6 finale was a total shocker, leaving us with five (!) huge cliff-hangers that need immediate answers. Luckily, all of them get solved, but three new problems take their place in the season finale. Oh, and there's a dreamy honeymoon thrown in for good measure. Virgin River season 8 when? — JV
The 2026 Oscars
Man, this year's Academy Awards ceremony really snuck up on us, huh? The biggest and glitziest night in the entertainment calendar is here, and I'm expecting a surprise or two in some of the more notable categories.
Okay, some things are a surefire bet — for one, Jessie Buckley winning Best Actress — but could we see a major shock for other gongs among the 2026 Oscars nominees? It'd be a turn up for the books if Kpop Demon Hunters didn't win Best Animated Feature or if, say, F1 or Bugonia stunned everyone to win Best Picture.
