The best Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 plans in Australia (November 2025)
Does Optus, Vodafone or an outright retailer offer the best route to Samsung's older Flip?
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 featured on every podium during the 2024 Summer Olympics, but it's recently been overtaken by the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 as the pocket-sized foldable to buy.
As the former leader in our guide to the best flip phones, it's more than just a phone that can take selfies without being unfolded. It's as powerful as the far bigger Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, but its best feature, especially versus competitors, is its durability. It's not as tough as a non-folding screen (or its successor), but you won't have to fret every time it's sitting in your pocket, tossed in a bag, or carried over a puddle.
Of course, a compact flip phone boasting that kind of performance – with a touchscreen that folds in half – doesn't come cheap. However, we have started to see some deals since the arrival on the Flip 7 – so buying it outright and pairing it with one of our best SIM-only plans is an increasingly attractive prospect.
That said, pairing it with one of the best phone plans from the likes of Vodafone or Optus, and paying it off in instalments, is likely the more affordable route for many . Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is out of stock at all major telcos in Australia. You can find the best current deals in the widget below, as well as the best alternative phone plans below.

Best Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 plan
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 (256GB) | Vodafone Small Plan | 60GB data | 24 months | AU$103.28 p/m
Vodafone (as well as Optus and Telstra) are no longer stocking the Flip 6, but with this AU$400 discount on the Galaxy Flip 7, plus a AU$8 discount on its small plan, it's hard to complain. Offering a larger, brighter screen, a more durable hinge and a longer-lasting battery, the Flip 7 is simply the better phone. This plan provides 60GB of data, international texts and the option for roaming at AU$5 per day.
Total cost over 24 months is AU$2,478.72
Best premium Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 plan
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 (256GB) | Vodafone Medium Plan | 200GB data | 24 months | AU$108.28 p/m
Again, the Flip 7 is your only option. However, while we're calling this the 'premium' option, this plan only costs an extra AU$5 per month over the deal above. For that extra cost, you get 200GB of data and international calls as well as texts. This price is thanks to a AU$13 discount on your plan throughout the entirety of your chosen contract.
Total cost over 24 months is AU$2,598.72

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6: key information
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6 proved in 2024 that Samsung knows foldable phones better than anybody – even Motorola with its cult Razr family. Rather than colourful plastic and sacrificing power for cheaper prices, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is the most polished and refined foldable phone you can buy, barring maybe the far more pricey Fold 6 and Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Looking at the Galaxy Z Flip 6 in its unfolded state – which is how it arrives in the box – you could be excused for not realising it's a foldable phone. The hinge is only barely visible, and it's exceptionally straight and rigid.
The slighter-than-ever crease isn't all this phone's design has going for it, either. The overall fit and finish of the Flip 6 is highly impressive, looking almost like an iPhone 15 Pro (in the best way possible) when open.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is perhaps a bit cautious compared to its newest flip phone competitor, the Motorola Razr 2024, with a smaller cover display that we struggled to do much with. That's not such a bad thing, though – one colleague over at Tom's Guide actually found himself reducing his screen time due to the cover display and its ability to get the necessities done without being bombarded by a thousand distractions on the main screen.
As for how AI works on the Flip 6, again Samsung has taken a cautious approach. However, what it lacks in abundance is made up for in quality – letting users have fun with unique features and experiment with the future. Samsung gets right what others don’t, like writing style suggestions, and scene optimisation in the cameras.
The Galaxy Z Flip 6 is remarkably powerful. In our slew of benchmark tests, it actually beat the iPhone 15 Pro Max in multi-core performance, the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro in some gaming tests and, perhaps most surprisingly, the bigger Galaxy Z Fold 6 doesn't have a performance edge over the Z Flip 6.
While it performs admirably, if you're looking for the best camera phone, then the Flip 6 is not for you. Similarly, its battery life also isn't overly impressive, perhaps because Samsung opted for the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 ‘for Galaxy’ chipset that delivers such satisfying power. And, while durability is much improved, the IP48 rating means this phone is not dust-resistant, so you need to be extra careful with the foldable display. There’s also no DeX support to make this phone a portable PC (as there is with the Fold) but you can still connect it to an external display.
Perhaps most importantly, this phone will get 7 years of major Android OS updates, which is a huge vote of confidence from Samsung, especially for a foldable phone – committing support until 2031, presumably through Android 21.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 might not be as exciting or flamboyant as its flipping competition, but it's the most powerful, the most durable, and the one that we'd trust the most. It feels solid and looks great, and it fits in anywhere. There's a reason it tops our list of the best flip phones.
