Earlier this week, KitchenAid revealed its official color of 2026: a fresh shade of green called Spearmint. The company, best known for its powerful and colorful stand mixers, has been running its Color of the Year program since 2017, with experts from the Whirlpool Color, Material and Finish team leading the process, and taking cues from the worlds of interior design, fashion, and beyond.
Last year's hottest color was a soft yellow called Butter, while the official hue of 2024 was a pretty periwinkle called Blue Salt. With each announcement, the company launches a special Artisan stand mixer in the new color to celebrate, with a full set of accessories.
The team at Whirlpool (KitchenAid's parent company) spends years researching trends and spotting patterns behind the scenes before settling on a hue, with decision-making processes for successive years overlapping.
"This year’s Color of the Year, Spearmint, feels like a mood booster – it’s positive, uplifting, and revitalizing," said Brittni Pertijs, Design Manager for Color, Material and Finish at Whirlpool.
As the owner of a bright green kitchen (which you'll spot in most of my reviews of the best coffee makers), I was pleased to hear that my cooking space is on trend for 2026.
"The spearmint design process took about three years, but the color has been on our team’s radar for even longer," said Pretijs. "As part of our trend forecasting, we’ve been tracking the enduring presence of blues and greens that we were seeing in both fashion and interior trends."

It's not just about the color, though; the finish is important, too. In 2024, Blue Salt had an opalescent sheen, while 2025's Butter had a soft satin finish. This year, things are a little grittier, with a slightly sandy effect that's not featured on any other mixer to date.

"For Spearmint, we spent a lot of time getting the finish just right," explained Pretijs. "We explored everything from glossy, matte, satin, and textured. Ultimately, we looked to mint leaves for inspiration and wanted to tap into the soft, subtle texture you only notice when you touch them. That led us to a sandy finish that feels both inviting to the eye and soft to the touch, which took a lot of development to perfect."
The 4.7-liter Artisan Stand Mixer in Spearmint is available for $549.99 in the US and £699.99 in the UK. If you're in the US, you can also enter the Color of the Year Sweepstakes for a chance to win both the mixer and a range cooker in Spearmint.
"Spearmint is incredibly versatile," said Pretijs. "It can be a fresh pop against stainless steel or a perfect complement in a colorful kitchen. It pairs just as well with dark or light woods and works beautifully in both cool and warm spaces. Thanks to its blend of blues and greens, Spearmint can either stand out as a statement or seamlessly blend into its surroundings."
