I ran the London Marathon 2024 using the Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) and it was a solid, dependable partner all the way through my training. Whether I wanted to use its full-colour maps to help me with training routes around London in the dark, track my workouts with its PacePro and wellness tools, or use its flashlight to find my way to the bathroom at night without turning the 'big light' on, this watch delivered in every scenario.
Now, as the dreary January-February grey weather begins to give way, the racing season will soon be upon us. While the London Marathon taking place is April is the biggest day in the UK running race calendar, plenty of other events are on the horizon over the spring-summer months.
If you need a watch to withstand the rigours of racing, I can't recommend the Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) enough. Although it's a few years old and software updates have slowed, it's still up to date in the hardware stakes – it was one of the first watches to pack the Elevate V5 heart rate sensor and LED flashlight, both of which now standard on all the best Garmin watches – and it's got more than enough tools to see you across finish lines for years.
Best of all, it's heavily discounted from its original price due to the more expensive Garmin Fenix 8. Right now, you can get the Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) 47mm model discounted from £739.99 down to just £369.99 at H. Samuel. Check out the deal in full below.
Today's best Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) deal
An incredible half price on an incredible watch. With maps, stacks of features like Hill Score and Endurance Score to add to your running programming, a bright AMOLED screen, torch and up to 16 days' battery life, this is a phenomenal buy at this price.
I gave the Garmin Epix Pro (Gen 2) 4.5 stars in my review, largely missing off the half-star because of its high price. I said "the Garmin Epix Pro is an advanced, professional-grade training tool. It’s not badly priced by any means, but neither does it represent outstanding value."
That was at its full price. At under £400, I'd buy this over a similarly-priced Forerunner watch in a heartbeat.
