Best Buy kicked off an Ultimate Upgrade sale at the start of the week, featuring hundreds of offers and extra trade-in bonuses to make jumping up to the latest tech more affordable. Some of the strongest deals can be found on laptops, so I've looked through the sale and picked out seven devices that are well worth buying if you're shopping for a new machine right now.

The laptops I've picked out can suit a variety of needs and budgets. So, if you want a cheap device just for everyday use, an all-rounder for school, college and at home, or a performance powerhouse for all of your creative, productivity and business tasks, you should find a suitable option here.
Starting with the lowest cost option worth buying, there's an HP Chromebook 14 for $149 (was $329). This is far from the most powerful laptop out there, but I can't deny that it's cheap. For those who only want the basics for infrequent browsing, light admin tasks and the odd video streaming, then this is fine, but expect difficulties with basically everything else.
For the best value all-around option, I like this Asus Vivobook 14 for $429 (was $749.99). That's a solid $320 discount on a modern and efficient laptop with a Snapdragon X processor, 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and an impressive battery life of up to 29 hours. Get this to handle multitasking and more demanding work, and if you need a laptop that will last all day on a single charge.
Lastly, my premium pick is the MacBook Air 13-inch (M5) for $949 (was $1,099). This is a record-low price for Apple's latest laptop that we called "the best ultraportable I've ever used" in our 4.5-star review.
The majority of these laptop deals should be live until the current Best Buy sale ends on Sunday, but some could expire or sell out before then, so I wouldn't hang around if one looks ideal for you. These will likely be the best offers we see until Memorial Day at the end of May.

Top 7 laptop deals in the Best Buy sale
Display: 15.6 inches
Processor: Intel Celeron N4500
RAM: 4GB
Storage: 64GB
This super-cheap HP Chromebook is a very basic device that's best suited to light use and schoolwork, but it's a bargain at this low price from Best Buy. The lean ChromeOS operating system gets more from low-end components, but it relies on you using more web-based applications such as Google Docs. And while it will struggle with anything beyond basic tasks, this also ensures exceptional all-day battery life, making it a strong portable option at a very affordable price.

Display - 14 inches
Processor - Intel Core 3
RAM - 8GB
Storage - 128GB
This Asus Chromebook Plus is great value for money if you need a basic everyday device but don't want to compromise too heavily on performance like you would with a sub-$200 laptop. An Intel Core 3 processor and 8GB of RAM is a decent pairing with the lightweight ChromeOS, so it's capable of general tasks and light use, such as web browsing, sending emails, word processing and watching videos. Just be aware it's missing some advanced features of a Windows machine and has limited storage, but benefits include better performance with cheaper components and excellent battery life.

Display - 15.6 inches
Processor - AMD Ryzen 5
RAM - 8GB
Storage - 256GB
One of the best cheap laptops in Best Buy's current batch of offers is this Lenovo IdeaPad 1 with an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a reasonable 256GB SSD. These all work together to ensure good overall performance and enough essential speedy storage for the price. It's an older machine, but I still recommend it now if you're on a budget and need a laptop for general everyday use, admin tasks, light work, or schoolwork.

Display - 14 inches
Processor - Snapdragon X
RAM - 16GB
Storage - 512GB
This is a great price for a relatively modern laptop that comes with a well-performing and efficient Snapdragon X CPU. On top of that, you get 16GB of RAM, a 512GB SSD, and incredible battery life of up to 29 hours, which represents good value for money overall. I like it as a light, portable and capable all-around everyday machine.

Processor - AMD Ryzen 7
RAM - 16GB
Storage - 512GB
This Lenovo laptop stands out from all of the current offers at Best Buy as it's a solid mid-range device at a reasonable price. That's mainly thanks to the AMD Ryzen 7 processor and 16GB of RAM, which are a good pairing for most everyday work tasks and general use. I'm a little disappointed with the 512GB of storage, but I guess it's enough for essential files and applications. Overall, this is still a good middle-of-the-road laptop.

This powerful and versatile Lenovo Yoga 7 offers impressive performance for the price, with high-end components such as a modern AMD Ryzen AI 7 processor, a healthy 16GB of RAM to boost performance, and a large 1TB SSD for storage. You can comfortably handle everyday tasks, demanding work, video calls, media streaming and more with this laptop, all with the option to flip it around to a 16-inch touchscreen tablet when the need arises, too.

The newest MacBook Air M5 is here, and it just got its biggest discount yet on Amazon. Our reviewer called it "the best ultraportable I've ever used" and awarded it 4.5-stars, so it's every bit as good as its already excellent predecessor. As well as the powerful and efficient M5 chip, the latest MacBook Air boasts a slick 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD as standard. Those are solid overall specs for all-around use, productivity, and creative tasks.
