TechRadar gave a five-star review to 28 Years Later so it's no surprise that we're all very excited about its follow up, The Bone Temple. If recent reports are anything to go by, we won't have long to wait for a first-look at the new movie.
According to World of Reel, the first trailer for 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple should drop tomorrow (September 3). The publication wrote: "The official social channels tied to the project have recently been updated with fresh imagery and hints. I’m now being told that a trailer is actually set to release on Wednesday."
Right now, we've only had a social media update with the movie's official Instagram being updated with three grid posts that combine together to say: "Everything is about to change".

Each image is accompanied with the same Bible verse from Revelation 9:3, which reads: "Then out of the smoke locusts came upon the earth. And to them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.”
I'm so keen to see our first proper look at 28 Years Later, which marks the second time that Danny Boyle hasn't directed an installment, as Juan Carlos Fresnadillo took over for 28 Weeks Later.
What do we know about 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple?
In an exclusive first look at '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,' director Nia DaCosta and star Jack O'Connell talk about the "bonkers" next film in the franchise.🔗 https://t.co/80OU8gyQ0S pic.twitter.com/u97wR7LDHbSeptember 2, 2025
One of my favorite directors, Nia DaCosta, is directing The Bone Temple. This is exciting news as I really enjoyed her take on the iconic Candyman story, so I'm sure she's got plenty to bring to this sequel.
Danny Boyle and Alex Garland will produce the movie, so the original team are on board too. The sequel will once again follow Spike as he's forced to join Jimmy’s violent cult, which is on a collision course with Dr. Kelson.

In an exclusive interview with Rolling Stone, who also received the first three photos of the movie, DaCosta said: "The thing that connects the two is that they’re both bonkers, idiosyncratic, and very artistically personal works.
"My big pitch when I was talking to the producers, including Danny and Alex, before I came on was, ‘I’m going to make this my own. I’m not going to try to make a Danny Boyle movie.’ Because that’s impossible to make. He’s so special. And it didn’t really interest me.”
She added: “It’s so hard to describe the tone of the movie that I actually won’t even attempt to. But it keeps the same unique, off-the-wall, surprising energy.”
With 28 Years Later being full of surprises, I'm very excited to see where The Bone Temple goes when it arrives on January 6.
