There might be a whole host of new films on Prime Video in October 2025, but it's the streamer's TV shows you need to keep an eye on in my opinion – and specifically, these three.

Now that The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 has wrapped up, we've finally got our lives back (well, at least until the movie comes out). The nights are drawing in, it's getting too cold to leave the sofa, and the TV is calling. Thankfully, Prime Video has our backs.

But what to choose from its stacked line-up? If you ask me, there are three obvious choices – and there's even something to keep your Belly and Conrad FOMO at bay.

The Girlfriend

If you read my review of The Girlfriend last month, you'll know I thought it was one of the most outrageous seasons of TV we've seen so far this year. Robin Wright is at its center – both as its lead star and director – playing a domineering mother who becomes embroiled in a triangle of intrigue and attraction when her son (Laurie Davidson) brings home his new girlfriend (Olivia Cooke).

Frankly, it makes the story of Oedipus look like Sesame Street, and thanks to its clever device of showing the same events in each episode from dual perspectives, you never know who can actually be considered a reliable narrator. It's sexy (very... I wouldn't advise watching with family), scandalous, and will have you on the edge on its seat until its final scene.

Even though Prime Video originally billed it as an original series, its executive producers told me they're convinced there's enough scope for a second season.

"We decided – and this wasn't our original thing – that we'd love to do a second season if Amazon wanted to," Jonathan Cavendish, who co-produced the show with Andy Serkis, said. "Season 2 could really go at the same story told in a different way."

Hotel Costiera

Another Amazon original drama that might not have been on your radar, Hotel Costiera is an Italian action series that packs a punch. Daniel De Luca (Jesse Williams) is a half-Italian former US Marine who returns to Italy to work at a luxury hotel in the beautiful resort town of Positano. Shortly after his arrival, the owner's daughter disappears, and De Luca is tasked with finding her.

Really, you only need to say "Positano" and there's enough reason to watch, but Hotel Costiera is a more light-hearted take on the action genre than we've been offered so far in 2025. The series is infused with an endearing sense of humor and the performances are solid, and while the script isn't going to win any awards, it doesn't need to.

The scenery will take your breath away, and it's certainly a cheaper way to enjoy Italy’s gorgeous Amalfi coast than taking a trip there. It's the perfect option for some silly European fun – and hey, who doesn't want to extend summer?

The Runarounds

Watch On

For those of us still mourning the end of The Summer I Turned Pretty, The Runarounds effortlessly takes up the YA content mantle. The show takes on the world of musicals, as a group of high school graduates from Wilmington, North Carolina, come together to form a rock band.

Think less Camp Rock and more the episode of The Simpsons where Homer goes to Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy Band Camp. There's an omnipresent air of whimsy coupled with some spectacular character development, authentically weaving together the group's dramas and music across eight tasty episodes.

Prime Video has clearly taken a chance creatively here, and the fact that The Runarounds is officially classed as YA drama means the show can take a few liberties with narrative and format. The result? An opportunity to relive the best parts of your teenage years, and a genuinely rocktastic soundtrack you can stream on Spotify.
