– Cards sold out in the US aside from bundles
– Some cards in stock in the UK, but not at MSRP
– UK retailers taking preorders for next batch
– Restocks coming late March / early April

After a hectic launch period, we're still monitoring retailers for the latest AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 stock updates. The bad news: all US retailers are currently sold out. There is some very limited stock available in the UK and some stores are also taking preorders for the next wave due in April. We'll continue keeping an eye out for restocks over the coming weeks and bring you the latest news right here.

As an overview, the RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 start at $599/£569 and $549/£525 respectively, although some cards are ranging all the way up to $829 / £799 at several retailers today. Unfortunately, no first-party AMD (IE: Founders Edition-like) cards are available at launch and the cheaper GPUs are very, very popular.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT stock at Amazon
Amazon is often a mixed bag for GPU launches. Yes, it does have a wide range of stock available, but it's also partial to third-party sellers scalping in-demand cards. Be wary of scalpers here but definitely don't hesitate to check Amazon as this retailer sometimes has unannounced restocks.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT stock at Best Buy
Best Buy is usually a strong option for bagging a graphics card on release - well, it used to be. Unfortunately, this retailer's stock sold out in a matter of minutes on launch for the RX 9070 XT and the retailer also listed only a handful of variants. With that said, it's worth checking in daily for restocks and I'd also recommend using the Best Buy help function on the website to chat to a sales rep as they can sometimes help prospective buyers track down stock.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT stock at Newegg
Newegg is probably the most reliable online retailer for scoring a graphics card overall. This retailer generally has good stock on a wide range of variants and you'll also find decent pre-built complete PCs here. Right now, everything is sold out but it's worth checking in daily to see if there are any refreshes. Newegg also tends to sell graphics cards with bundled motherboards and power supplies, which could be worth investigating if you're thinking about upgrading more than your graphics card.

Although B&H is best known as a photography retailer, it also stocks computer hardware - most crucially graphics cards. Since it's not one of the better-known GPU sellers, it can be a good place to track down stock of high-end cards.

One of the best retailers for securing a new graphics card in the UK, Overclockers usually has decent stock as well as pre-built options. The retailer has been relisting several cards every few days so it's worth checking in daily for more stock drops. AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT stock at CCL
CCL is a specialist retailer in the UK that's often overlooked in favor of the more well-known names. Of course, that makes it a superb option when stock is running low at other retailers. Right now, this retailer actually has some XT and non-XT cards in stock, but they are the pricier high-end models so expect to spend more than MSRP if you want a card with speedy delivery.

Ebuyer is a fantastic source for graphics card and pre-builts. Currently, the retailer has a few non-XT cards in stock for immediate delivery and a number of preorders that you can use to sign up for the next batch of XT variants. Unfortunately, most of these are over MSRP - but not by much, admittedly.Note, adblockers tend to block our affiliate links through to Ebuyer so you may have to temporarily disable your adblock.

When are retailers going live with sales?

There's a wide range of prices on cards already listed

I was just browsing Overclocker's stock of cards in the UK just now - and as expected, some of these AIB cards are much, much higher priced than the £569 MSRP that AMD stated.

There are a few cards listed at £569, like this Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX 9070 XT at Overclockers but they range all the way up to £799 for this Asus Radeon RX 9070 XT TUF, which is quite a variance for a card of this price point. Just based on traffic, it looks like the cheaper cards are getting more attention at the retailer right now so it could be worth jumping on those quickly if you're interested.

US sales will likely open at 9AM ET / 6AM PT

More details on UK stock - it's good news and bad news!

Our writer Darren Allen has just posted an interesting news piece on UK stock levels that's well worth checking out. To summarize, it states that Overclockers in the UK has in fact over 4,000 cards in stock and the retailer thinks that “stock will be fine for a few days".

That's the good news. The bad news is that the retailer expects the MSRP cards (IE: the cheaper ones) to sell out first and that “MSRP is capped quantity of a few hundred, so prices will jump once those are sold through.” Darren thinks the prices will settle at around £600 for the cheaper models but I'm not so sure - OCUK does have a track record of hiking prices to a certain degree.

30 minutes to go - here's how I think things will play out

OK folks, so we're just on the cusp of sales going live for both cards. From everything I've read so far, it's looking like stock is pretty good. But, I have to say - demand is also looking incredibly high and the cheaper $599 / £569 cards in particular look to be on the majority of people's shopping lists today.

The state of play in the UK right now

As of writing, most of the UK retailers still have remaining stock, although it's increasingly difficult to find an XT for under £600. The cheaper cards are obviously the ones that people are after right now, and unfortunately, it's looking like they're pretty much all gone now.

Demand for the XT is massively outstripping the standard 9070

It's kind of easy to see why, too. The XT is a much more powerful card for not a lot more money (on paper, that is). With all that said, if you're willing to settle for 'just' a 9070, then you'll still be able to find plenty of stock over at Scan in the UK, where prices are starting at £529.99 for a XFX Swift AMD Radeon RX 9070 Triple Fan model.

What's the latest?

  • The RX 9070 XT and RX 9070 were extremely popular and despite some retailers claiming thousands of cards in stock many sold out very quickly
  • There are some RX 9070 cards available this morning, though these are mostly in the UK
  • There are also very few RX 9070 XT cards at some retailers and these are mostly the more expensive overclocked editions, so expect to pay a premium if you want these.
  • As for baseline cards some early indications suggest the next wave of stock will be available in early April

Be prepared to pay more if you didn't get a launch card

Preorders available at some UK retailers

If you missed out on the first wave of cards in the UK, retailers including Scan and Ebuyer are taking preorders for the next wave. A good number of cards are up for grabs here, although they are mainly the more expensive overclocked options. So, expect to pay a little more than the RRP of £569. Still, if you want to get the new RX 9070 XT or RX 9070 and you're in the UK, this is your best chance to secure one right now.

Just a quick update from me, folks. Head on over to Overclockers if you're looking for a card in the UK - the retailer has just re-listed a few cards in stock starting at £669.88.

It's worth checking in daily for new stock

Stock update (13th March)

If you're in the UK, then things are a little rosier - but only just. If you're looking for a non-XT card then multiple options are currently in stock at Ebuyer and CCL starting at £599. CCL also has some RX 9070 XT cards in stock, but they're the much pricier third-party models that start at £799 rather than the lowest £599 MSRP. If you're willing to wait for a cheaper XT card, then the best option (in my opinion), remains preordering a card at Ebuyer for a late March / early April delivery estimate.

RX 9070 XT stock at Overclockers

Stock remains almost non-existent in the US....

UK stock update (18th March)

Overclockers had another extremely limited restock of a few XT models, ranging from £680 to £720. Unfortunately, they sold out pretty quickly and there are no fabled £599 MSRP cards to be seen anywhere in the UK right now.

There are quite a few non-XT cards in stock at Overclockers

You can pick up a standard RX 9070 over at Overclockers today, with prices ranging from £599 to £698. From a quick count, there are 6 variants on sale so there's a fair amount of choice.

For the record, these prices start at £50 over MSRP so these aren't what I would call 'bargains' but the £599 card isn't too egregious in my opinion. By all accounts, the non-XT card is about 10% slower than the RX 9070 XT so you're not getting quite as good bang for the buck with these particular listings. If you don't want to wait for more restocks, however...

Cards are still selling out at above MSRP

Overclockers is doing regular restocks now, or rather it appears that the retailer is drip-feeding stock live on its site as and when it receives new cards. The bad news is that several cards at above £700 are still selling out within a few hours. While it's likely there are only a handful of cards going on sale at a time, it looks like people are willing to pay over £150 extra to secure themselves one of these cards.

Ebuyer is still the best option for XT cards in the UK

If you don't mind waiting, that is. Ebuyer currently has preorders for XT cards listed at £669.99 with a mid-April delivery date. While this isn't an MSRP card, the price gouging is a little less egregious here and Ebuyer is also the only retailer I've seen to offer concrete delivery estimates on its site.

Best Buy had a recent restock this past weekend...

The RX 9070 XT is the main feature of this article - but let's face it, if you're going to spend £800 on a card then it becomes a lot less appealing. Stock is also improving on Nvidia cards too since you can currently get this MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti at Amazon for £729.

MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16G Shadow 3X OC: £729 at Amazon UK

Stock update (26th March)

Over in the UK, Amazon has started to list cards in the £680 to £720 range. That's obviously still a way off from MSRP but it doesn't look like they're rapidly selling out so it could be that demand is starting to flatten out a little. I expect we'll see a new batch of cards being delivered at retailers in April, too.

XT Cards still in stock over at Amazon UK

RX 9070 XT cards originally popped up on Amazon UK yesterday and they still haven't sold out as of writing. The cheapest one is £684.99 which isn't awful but it's still quite pricey considering some cards were going for £599 at launch. This is definitely a good sign, however, as Amazon has a big spring sale running currently. It's likely the retailer has sold quite a few of these cards and stock has held up pretty well. Fingers crossed we'll see more stock elsewhere soon.

An Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070

(Image credit: Future / John Loeffler)

The UK retailer CCL has XFX Radeon RX 9070 XT cards in stock for £679.99 today, which isn't the most egregious cash grab I've seen. We're pretty close to MSRP with this one, although it is definitely still a pricey buy.

If you're in the UK, you could also consider picking up an Nvidia RTX 5070. The retailer Overclockers has a few cards in stock from £539, which isn't too bad. Looks like the cheaper cards are selling out quickly though, so it's probably best to pick one up sooner rather than later.
