‘Never thought I’d see the day’: Spotify users are pleasantly surprised with its latest Apple TV update – but one issue still remains
- Spotify has updated its Apple TV app, and users are very happy with what they're seeing
- A user took to Reddit, sharing that features such as AI DJ, lyrics, and audio settings are now available on Apple TV
- In between the positive reactions, users are still asking for ways to disable Spotify Jam
Spotify’s mobile app is great, however its TV app can offer much more, especially in a social setting or for optimizing music video streaming, but its recent Apple TV update has sent users into a frenzy – and people are loving it.
The music streaming service’s new update for its Apple TV app arrived a few days ago, and details were soon shared on Reddit (see below), and users have been piling their thoughts into the thread ever since. Usually when Spotify launches a new update, it’s met with several unpleasant responses, but it’s far from that this time.
Finally Apple TV update! from r/truespotify
In the Reddit post, user LimpBed9875 uploaded an image of Spotify’s refreshed Apple TV interface, which adopts a similar appearance to Spotify’s Android TV version. The post reveals that features such as AI DJ are now available, despite having been available on streaming devices such as the Fire TV Stick for quite some time.
Additionally, the user addresses other new integrations such as a music video carousel in the homepage, lyrics integration, and the ability to amend audio settings.
Recently, Spotify has been churning out one new feature after another; from its unique audio-mixing tool to its long-expected Lossless audio. Features such as Spotify Mix and Messages have yet to come to the Apple TV version, but it’s still good news for those who rely on Spotify’s TV apps.
While the reaction to the update has been overwhelmingly positive, there’s still one issue that’s persisting for some users – and they’ve been asking for a solution for a while.
Spotify Jam is still an annoyance
In between the new upgrades, the issue with Spotify Jam is still plaguing the app’s TV interface, which users say is obtrusive to the streaming experience.

If you're not familiar with Spotify Jam, it's a feature that lets you create your own collaborative listening experience with your friends by scanning a barcode and adding songs to a queue. It's an easier alternative to passing a single mobile device to different people to queue songs.
Spotify Jams are a fun and efficient way to bring a social gathering to life, and can be listened to through Bluetooth speakers or via Spotify’s TV app. For the latter, a sidebar with a QR code will appear on your TV, which can often obstruct the playback screen and can get in the way of music videos.
Comment from r/truespotify
Not only are users complaining about its unattractive appearance, there seems to be a common agreement that Spotify should consider introducing a new means of disabling the feature. The user above points this out, suggesting that an on/ off toggle would make all the difference, which Spotify has done in the past with features such as Smart Shuffle, but users have been complaining since Jams were launched on TVs in 2024, and there’s yet to be a fix.
It’s quite surprising to see that Spotify Jam isn’t all that popular with TV users, as it’s one of my favorite and most used tools on Spotify for TV. With that said, it was a relief to be able to turn off Smart Shuffle via the toggle setting, so the frustration with Jams is very understandable.
