A Sony Ericsson PSP gaming phone may be released at some point - but not just yet, it seems. A Sony Ericsson spokesperson has moved to quell speculation about an imminent announcement of a PSP phone. This follows recent reports about a Sony Ericsson gaming phone patent approval in the US.

According to a Reuters report , Sony Ericsson spokesperson Merran Wrigley did not rule out the possibility of a PSP equipped phone device. "We're continually evaluating other propositions but they have to be credible propositions," she said.

However, Sony Ericsson was "not interested in sticking parts on phones that destroy the brand equity that's been built up by Sony ."

Speculation about an imminent PSP phone release has grown since the first postings of the Sony Ericsson patent approval stories on 1 June. A Sony Ericsson press conference in Berlin to launch new mobile phones has been scheduled for 14 June. Although Sony Ericsson has indicated that the new products will focus on imaging and music facilities.
