The image below was shared on the company’s official Weibo page, and shows the back of a handset that looks a lot like the OnePlus 3. It’s facing a mirror, and in the reflection you can see a ‘T’ on the screen.
The ‘T’ is almost certainly a reference to the name of the new phone, and we can assume from the image that the design of the OnePlus 3T won’t be much, if any, different to the OnePlus 3.
That lines up with rumors suggesting the changes will be limited to the screen (moving from AMOLED to LCD) and the processor (upgrading from a Snapdragon 820 chip to a Snapdragon 821).
Similar but better
Beneath the image it says ‘to be a better me’, which suggests the 3T will essentially be the OnePlus 3, but better, again lining up with previous leaks and rumors.
In other words, this is probably just a slight upgrade we’re looking at, with everything other than the screen and processor likely remaining as it is in the OnePlus 3 – meaning a 16MP camera, 6GB of RAM and a full metal body.
But given that the OnePlus 3 already makes our list of the 10 best phones, even a slight upgrade could be worth getting excited about.
