New Supergirl teaser and poster reveals fresh look at Milly Alcock's rebellious hero as DCU movie trailer's release date confirmed
Look out — Supergirl's first trailer drops this Thursday
- The release date and time for Supergirl's first trailer have been revealed
- A new poster and teaser have also been released
- The DCU movie's story brief has been unveiled, too
DC Studios has officially revealed when the first trailer for Supergirl will be with us – and, as the rumor mill suggested, it'll be in the next 24 hours.
On Monday, December 8, it was announced that Supergirl's first teaser would be released before the end of the week. That meant it could arrive anytime between the aforementioned date and Friday, December 12. Now, we know exactly when it'll premiere: Thursday, December 11 at 8:59am PT / 11:59am ET / 4:59pm GMT.
The confirmation arrives via a trailer reveal placeholder that went live on DC Comics' YouTube channel today, December 10. And, if that wasn't enough to whet our appetite for the teaser's reveal, the accompanying image also gives us another look at Milly Alcock's titular character.
Wearing Supergirl's iconic suit and the brown trench coat she was seen wearing in her scene-stealing cameo in this year's Superman movie, Alcock looks every inch the rebellious hero. It's the same attire that Kara Zor-El sports in 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow', aka the graphic novel that this DC Universe (DCU) movie is based on, too, which we also got another glimpse of in Supergirl's punk-rock style first poster.
But wait, there's more, because another teaser for the film has been unveiled on its official social media channels. Check it out below:

Additionally, in the caption accompanying the trailer placeholder, DC and parent company Warner Bros. Pictures has also dropped the first story synopsis for the DCU Chapter One movie.
"Supergirl, DC Studios’ newest feature film to hit the big screen, will be in theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures, starring Milly Alcock in the dual role of Supergirl/Kara Zor-El. Craig Gillespie directs the film from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.

"When an unexpected and ruthless adversary strikes too close to home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly joins forces with an unlikely companion on an epic, interstellar journey of vengeance and justice."
Anyone who's read 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow' will know what the aforementioned logline is referring to. If you want to learn more about the film's plot before the teaser arrives, I'd recommend reading the plot section of my Supergirl guide. Don't worry, it doesn't include any major spoilers, but it'll give you some extra information on what to expect from one of 2026's most exciting new movies.
Want to know who's joining Alcock in the superhero flick? My Supergirl cast and character guide is also full of must-know information on its tight ensemble. Lastly, read my Supergirl trailer #1 wish list piece to see which three things I want it to include – and one I don't.
Supergirl will fly into theaters worldwide on June 26, 2026.
