Why you can trust TechRadar
There's nothing much to find fault with on the Canon IXUS 230 HS. Image quality is excellent for a camera at this price point, the 8x zoom offers plenty of flexibility and it's all encased in a smart, robust metal body.
We liked
Excellent image quality, even at high ISOs, complement a good range of features including full HD video and a high quality 8x zoom lens with image stabilisation.
We disliked
There is little to dislike about this camera, although a little more manual control would be a nice addition.
Final verdict
Using the compact camera is so straightforward that users of any level should be able to get to grips with it. Although more manual controls beyond exposure compensation would've been good for more experienced users, that is rarely a feature you'd find at this price point.
The raft of features including a comprehensive list of scene modes, filter effects and full HD video make the Canon IXUS 230 HS a camera well worthy of consideration.
