- Another iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max leak has appeared

We know that the iPhone 17 series is going to be launching on Tuesday, September 9, but we've got a few days of leaks and rumors left yet – and the latest snippet of unofficial information to emerge points to some promising upgrades.
According to regular tipster Instant Digital (via AppleInsider), we can expect the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max – the most expensive of the four anticipated models – to maintain higher levels of screen brightness for longer periods of time.
What's more, the phones are said to be better at handling the higher internal temperatures that are typical when playing demanding games. The phones will be more stable in these scenarios, the tipster says, with fewer frame drops.
The same source also says performance when shooting video at 4K 60fps has been improved, and battery efficiency is better as well – which should lead to longer times between charges. These all sound like positive upgrades over the current models.
Current comparisons
This latest leak is a little light on specifics, but we do know that both the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max offer a peak outdoor brightness of 2,000 nits, with a typical max brightness of 1,600 nits, as per Apple's specs.
There's definitely room for improvement there, compared to the best Android phones. The recently unveiled Google Pixel 10 Pro, for example, reaches a peak brightness of 3,300 nits – so the new iPhones might get closer to this mark.
As for battery life, Apple puts this at up to 27 hours of video playback on the iPhone 16 Pro, and up to 33 hours on the Pro Max. That's already quite impressive, but of course any improvement in battery life (as has previously been rumored) is welcome.
