Microsoft dampens Vienna speculation

The countdown to Windows Vienna is expected to be a lot shorter than that to Windows Vista

Microsoft has taken the unusual step of releasing a statement crushing speculation over the successor to Windows Vista . An internal codename for the operating system - Vienna - has been in use at the corporation since 2000.

The declaration came from Kevin Kutz, the director of Microsoft 's Windows Client division: "The launch of Windows Vista was an incredibly exciting moment for our customers and partners around the world, and the company is focused on the value Windows Vista will bring to people today."
