The Surface Book 2 is a gorgeous, powerful, and expensive piece of kit, and you'll want to protect it. Unfortunately, the unique 2-in-1 configuration of the Surface Book 2 means that you'll need an equally unique case. Luckily, we have some suggestions.
Staff pick It's hard to talk about Surface cases without mentioning UAG! UAG is renowned for its military-grade standards for protection, and this Surface Book 2 case is no different. Sure, it's not a looker, but it will protect your device from extreme levels of abuse. $85 at AmazonView Deal
If you want a bit of external protection without breaking the bank or completely changing the profile of your device, consider the iPearl case. The case allows your Book 2 to detach while protecting both the base and the screen from scuffs and other types of damage. There are separate models for both the 13-inch and 15-inch Surface Book 2, as well as the older models. From $25 at AmazonView Deal
As premium cases go, it doesn't get more premium than this. You can get a precision-cut wood case for the Surface Book 2, which not only looks stunning, but adds some serious protection across the whole product, even the finer details across the fulcrum hinge. Super nice. From $79 at AmazonView Deal
If like me, you sometimes wish the detachable tablet portion of the Surface Book 2 had a kickstand of its own, this case might be a good option. Although it's only available for the 13-inch model, the wrap-around configuration can provide some added protection without sacrificing functionality. $29 at AmazonView Deal
If you want something a little more folio-like, consider the PU leather case from Hifriend. This case retains the detachability of the Surface Book 2 while adding some stylish, folder-like chic to the exterior presentation. Synthetic leather and stitched fabrics provide some added protection for portability. The only downside is that the straps cover parts of the ventilation at the top, so if you tend to push your Surface Book 2 hard, you might want to avoid this one.

The iCarer genuine leather case is another folio-style protective product, available only for the 13-inch Surface Book 2 sadly. The product uses genuine leather, including both brown leather and black crocodile textures (if you want to get your 80s flair on). It also sports a low-profile design with plenty of ventilation for the laptop itself, and it's not too pricey either. $65 at Amazon (13-inch)View Deal
A couple of suggestions
We're big fans of the Toast wood Surface range, and they come extensively tested and highly recommended from us. Toast make precision-cut wood panels with strong 3M tape adhesives that cling to each segment of your Surface Book 2, including the segments of the fulcrum hinge. Daniel Rubino has reviewed and showcased the Toast products for the Surface line extensively.
If you want some serious protection for that super expensive laptop, though, you can't go wrong with the UAG Surface range, which come with military drop-test approval. The UAG case has interlocking parts that also sport tactile grips for one-handed travel, thick, shock-resistant edges in addition to a dual-locking system for added protection. If you want to take your Surface Book 2 on the wild side, this is the case you need to get.
