One app to rule them all – this might be the ultimate fix for family overload
Homescreen Heroes: Sortifyd helped me get my life organized

Now that we’re well and truly settled into the fall semester, my overwhelming feeling is one of busyness and complexity that I’ve not experienced before. Work life is busy for me and my wife; all three of my children are now in school, and keeping track of finances is only getting more difficult.
Now, I’m not someone who just accepts this commotion while dreaming of a quieter life in the future. That’s why I began searching for a one-stop app to organize every aspect of my life. That's when I stumbled across the Sortifyd app.
With tens of thousands of downloads across 165 countries and a long list of positive reviews, I knew they had to be doing something right. I proceeded to download the app and systematically transferred my life into the digital world of Sortifyd. Here’s how I got on and why you might like to do the same.
This is part of a regular series of articles exploring the apps that we couldn't live without. Read them all here.
Getting the most out of Sortifyd requires users to record everything. This initial step feels like climbing a mountain with flip-flops on, but when you get to the top, the views make it all worthwhile. I spent time moving my calendar over, importing my travel documents, entering in all my handwritten lists, and more. This took time and commitment, but I’m now so glad I did.
A centralized hub for maximum organization
As a result, I now have one centralized place that contains all the important information related to my life and the lives of my loved ones. I get reminders, can interrogate the data, and keep the whole family moving in the same direction. Doing this might seem like the worst thing in the world, but what it actually does is simplify life so I can spend more quality time with my family and friends.
Another benefit of having a centralized hub that also syncs with other family members is that tasks can be easily delegated. By utilizing a chore chart, everyone knows what is expected of them, and family members can receive reminders to help them remember what is required of them. This also has the added benefit of teaching children about responsibilities and expectations.
Reminders to help prioritize what's important
Some people are better than others at holding in mind what they need to do. Maybe I’ve got too much going on, but I often find that if I put a new to-do item into my head, another one pops out the back, never to be recovered. As a result, I’ve got to-do lists on my phone, on my computer, on the fridge, and various other paper ones around the home.

Sortifyd not only supports task lists and calendar events but, more importantly for me, it provides routine reminders. These are designed to support small, meaningful habits that require action on a regular basis.
These reminders can include family logistics, personal goals, or everyday routines. My personal favorite was setting a daily reminder to spend five minutes reflecting on the day. In the midst of busy days, I find doing this incredibly grounding.
Avoiding the problem of overspending
Every month, there are regular and predictable outgoings. There’s the monthly payment for the mortgage, internet plan, children’s clubs, Netflix, and so much more. Then there are the one-off payments. These are more difficult to keep track of, and if I’m not careful, they can become significantly greater than I had intended.
Historically, I’ve made do with keeping a daily eye on my bank account, but this doesn’t really help me with tracking what’s coming out of my account and identifying whether there are simple ways for me to reduce my spending.
Thankfully, Sortifyd includes a dedicated Money Tracker, which is designed to simplify how you track, manage, and understand your money. After entering budget and spending information, it’s possible to visualize your spending habits with visually appealing charts to aid understanding. As a result, I found it easier to make informed financial decisions.
The app also makes it possible for every member of the family to log their own spending. My children are too young to own a phone, but I can imagine this being helpful as they get into their teenage years. That is assuming they’re willing to put in the effort!
Sortifyd plans to suit everyone
Sortifyd helps your family stay organized, connected, and ready for anything. There are four different plans, namely One (Free), One Plus ($24.99/£22.49), Family ($49.99/£44.99), and Family Plus ($59.99/£53.99). Prices are for an annual subscription. Monthly payments are accepted, but you’ll pay a little more across the course of a month.
That’s a lot of plan options, but in essence, the more you pay, the more users and devices you’re allowed. The amount of storage also increases up to a maximum of 5GB on the Family Plus package.
If you like the idea of getting on top of your life, then why not download Sortifyd on iOS or Android right now? It’s more straightforward than you might think.
