The iPod touch 64GB is Apple's premium iPod.

At Apple's recent "It's only Rock 'n' Roll event" this September we saw the unveiling of a new version of the touch with a larger 64GB capacity, a faster processor and better graphics capabilities.

Quite rightly the new iPod nano, with its built-in video camera, has grabbed all the media attention.

But it's worth a closer look at the new touch to see how it stacks up against the previous version, especially since pricing has now changed across the line.

You can now get an 8GB iPod touch for £149, a 32GB iPod touch for £229 and the model we're reviewing, the 64GB iPod touch is £299.

It's important to note that only the new 32GB and 64GB models have the new, faster processor and Open GL ES 2.0 graphics capabilities.

The 8GB model still runs at the speed of the previous generation of the iPod touch. Since the new models essentially have no new features (it's just faster and has a larger capacity), there's little point explaining everything an iPod touch can do here.

For that you might as well read our review of the old 32GB version.

Instead, we'll assume you know all about its touch screen, the App Store with over 75,000 apps available and its Wi-Fi web browsing capabilities, and look at how the new model compares to the old one in terms of performance.
