This camera from the Flip range is half the price of its HD stablemate, but there's a clear step down in quality. Once again it's very straightforward to use, and boasts a pop-out USB connector.
The image quality on offer here isn't bad at all considering that it's only standard-definition 640 x 480. It's a little too soft, perhaps, but it certainly produces videos of a good-enough quality for uploading to YouTube or watching on a small-to-medium-screen CRT television.
Its audio quality was better than average too, but it's worth remembering this is an area where there's room for improvement across the board with the current generation of mini video cameras.
Overall, the Flip Ultra is a solid, dependable and easy-to-use video camera that won't disappoint if you're not expecting hi-def movies.
However, it's worth considering paying a little more for a device that can handle HD.
